Zoe – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month

Zoe - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month 3Zoe – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month

I started my venture to have and own a loving lap cat. Know what breed. I researched the internet for a breed that would suit my personality. I am a loving touchy feeling person and needed a breed that would respond.

Zoe - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month 4I first looked a Chatreaux, but it was difficult to find breeders near my home of Toronto, Canada. My friend has had Birmans for years and swore by their personality and general demeanor. I finally settle on the Ragdoll, I knew the history from Riverside California and Ann Bakers mix of breeds to get her first Ragdolls. I found a few in my province of Ontario, but they were still far away from Toronto. (Ontario is a huge province, about the size of the entire eastern seaboard of the U.S.) I finally found a breeder in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario where I grew up. I phoned the breeder and she had some 4 week females. Two where still unspoken for, so I send a deposit and waited until they were 4 weeks old.

I drove to the breeders with my best friend Linda who owns Birmans and walked in the door and heard these little kitten cries. I fell in love. I picked one up and she settled on my lap and look up and me and those sweet little eyes said, “where have you been all my life” I told Amanda, the breeder this is the girl. She was mine. Now the waiting game for her to mature and have her spayed surgery. She had her surgery at 7 weeks and I took her home at 8 weeks.

Zoe - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month 5 months oldWhen we got home I have purchase all kinds of toys and novelty to keep her busy and happy, as well as her little box and food. She eats Royal Canine wet and Performance dry daily. She became very comfortable the first day. My hope was that she was happy here in her new home and that she would come to love her servant “me”.

She ate and grew so fast the first month and I watched as the almost white kitten developed her chocolate face and blaze and her mitted front paws. And her little skinny rat tail has filled out to a lovely feather like plume.

Zoe - Ragdoll Kitten of the MonthDuring her second month I grew concerned because she was throwing up her dry food about three time a week. And the little sweetie never threw up on my carpets or furniture. She ran into the bathroom where her little box is and only threw up there. As if she knew this would involve less work for me.

One of her particular traits is, she jumps on my bed about 3 or 4 a.m. , purring as she approaches my face and sits there and stares into my eyes until I notice her presents. Then I pet and love her up and her purring goes into overdrive. After a few minutes she moves to the bottom of the bed and goes to sleep and only gets up when I get up.

She is very considerate and lays out of the way very quietly until I have my first tea and toast in silence. After one half hour she starts to make her presents known and another day with madam Zoe begins.
