Gypsy – Ragdoll of the Week

Gypsy - Ragdoll of the week 5Gypsy is a retired breeder of Angelheart Ragdolls with a heart of gold. She is a beautiful big seal bi color and is now 16 years young. We brought Gypsy into our home when she was about 15 months old. She had 4 litters of kittens with us. Her first two litters, she had 9 healthy kittens each, her third litter she had 8 healthy kittens and her last litter she had 2 beautiful babies. A boy and a girl. We kept the girl and named her Alexis. Gypsy is the Great, Great Grandmother to Circe (the split face tortie) which is the last of her line.

Gypsy - Ragdoll of the week 5Gypsy is the matriarch of the cats. She will be the mother to any cat that will let her and she will try and steel other mom cats kittens so she can take care of them too. She also teaches the young cats manners and keeps the other cats in line. When it’s time for brushing, if one of the cats starts complaining to loudly, Gypsy will come over and give them the eye until they stop. It makes me laugh every time. She has no interest in chasing the laser lights, but she loves to watch the other cats run after it. I would swear she is laughing at them.

She cuddles with the other cats all the time and they always come over to her so she can lick their

head. They all know how loving she is. Her favorite toy is a wand with a big fluffy ball and feather on the end. She always gives it several good wacks, and then carries it around to show off her prize. Even though she is 16 years old, she will still get that burst of energy and go running through the house at all hours of the night. Her favorite place to lay is on the couch on anything soft. We have plenty of chenille and soft plush throws for all of them to lay on. When I sit down on the couch, she immediately runs over to me and jumps up and gets her prime spot right next to my lap or on it for about 1/2 hour of pet and massage time. All the cats know, she gets first dibbs for that. After she is done, it is an assembly line of several cats at a time for their turn, lol. In the winter time, when we have the fireplace on, Gypsy stretches out and basks in the heat right along the hearth. She will lay there for hours. There is nothing like watching a completely content, relaxed, happy cat sleeping. When she’s done basking, she comes over to me for snuggling and petting and her fur is so warm, like a warm blanket.

Gypsy - Ragdoll of the WeekGypsy is also a very good helper. She follows me around and watches me clean the litter boxes to make sure I’m doing a good job. She also helps me when I sweep the floor and of course when I am on the computer, she has helped me type things many times. She especially likes to do that 🙂 She also likes to rearrange my paperwork and helps me read books and magazines too!

She is on a special Kidney diet, and even though she gets offered food every 3 hours. When she wants an extra bite, she will come over to me, sit down and give me an intense long look and then smack her lips. Then, I better get her food dish. If I don’t, she will start making cute little meows, telling me off and smacking her lips again. Gypsy will always make it very clear what she wants and of course she gets it 🙂
