Hi, I would like to introduce you all to my Ragdoll baby, Sam. He is from Moncton, New Brunswick Canada. Sam is approximately 11 years old and he is a rescue that we got through a friend when he was around 7. So, this is why I say he is “approximately” 11.
His “gotcha” day is on or around Aug 15th. Sam is such a joy and a sweet cat. He is an “only kitty” so he gets all the love and trust me he commands a lot!! He is a real “sook” snuggling in with me when I watch my tv shows after work. He loves to watch General Hospital! Lol
He has this cute and funny habit of “broadcasting” with very loud meows when he has come out of the kitty litter or when he has his nightly treat of wet food which we call his “wet noms”. He has to “let you know” what he’s doing.
Sam is a “unique ragdoll” he does not go limp when you pick him up like most do, but instead he curls up tight “like a cooked shrimp”. He doesn’t mind being picked up and held either.
His ragdoll thing he always does is flop down on the floor with a loud thump and roll back and forth. It’s so cute! We call it the “flop drop and roll”
I fell in love with ragdolls many years ago when I first saw them in Cat Fancy magazine. We had also gone to a pet store around that time that happened to have ragdoll kittens and when this one little baby “melted” into my arms I was done for.
I had made it my goal to one day have one so imagine when my friend posted a pic on Facebook of the new kitty she got. I saw her and I commented on how beautiful she was. She said to me she is a pure breed ragdoll and said she had a big brother that needs a home too.
Sam was dropped off at our house that same week. After much sweet talking with my husband and mother-in-law (she was not keen on a second cat as we did have another one at the time (a beautiful medium haired grey tortie named Breezy) but guess who fell in love with Sam right away! Yup, you’re right, my mother-in-law.
Sam is her little shadow. When she grabs her cane to go upstairs to bed for the night it doesn’t matter where he is, he goes flying up the stairs passing her and waits for her as this is when he gets his Temptation treats. He’s all about the food.
Since Sam was named when we got him, we of course kept his name as is but he gets many nicknames by me. Here are a few: Sammy, Sammy Wammy Baby Boy. Samuel L Kitteh, Turkey, and The Fabulous Mr. Fluff!
Since Covid I have been working from home (my office is in the bedroom) Sam has been my “little supervisor”. We have daily “meetings” consisting of him getting up on the bed looking for loves and pets. Which I am more than happy to provide!
Love my Sam to the moon and back, he is my sweet baby boy.
