FURREAL GINA’S PRIDE AND “JOY”, aka The Best Ragdoll Momma My name is “Joy”, well legally it is Furreal Gina’s Pride and “Joy” and I turned 7 years old in June. I started my life living in Northern California with a breeder, who now tells me she is my “Grandma”, and my job was to produce beautiful kittens. The breeder always told me I was such a good loving momma and that was why I was so good at my job. My last litter had four kittens, and in that litter I had a little girl, Violet. Well I did not know her as Violet then, but that is what her human Mom calls her now. On June 11, 2016, a lady came to my house and she had a violet cat carrier, a little violet collar, and in the carrier was a fluffy violet colored towel. I kept trying to sneak into the carrier several times because I really loved that towel! But, sadly neither the towel, the carrier, nor the collar were for me, the lady picked up one of my kittens, hugged it and exclaimed how it was so precious. Then she put the violet colored collar on the kitten, and named the kitten, Violet. As I sat there waiting and watching that fluffy violet towel in the carrier but, Violet was put in the carrier and carried out to a waiting car and I thought I would never see that violet towel again.. Then the next month it was decided that I should retire. I went to the veterinarian got all fixed up and came back, but I had nothing to do. No kittens to tend to, no kittens to teach, or to play with One day I heard the breeder talking with the lady about Violet and asking if she had thought about getting a companion for Violet, but I could not hear the answer. The breeder said that she had retired Joy… (ohhhhh, that’s me!!)… and that IF the lady was interested she would like Joy to live with her and Violet, since I was Violet’s mother and she just wanted to make sure that I had a good loving home. So a couple of weeks later the breeder put me in a carrier and we went to meet the lady. Imagine… I was getting my very own human MOM!! I rode with Mom back to her house and when I got there I smelled another C A T. I hissed and did not like that a cat I did not recognize was there! See, I had be away from all of my kittens for about 12 weeks and I could not recognize any of them anymore. Mom kept telling me that this was Violet, my kitten, but I just could not remember. So to help calm me, I was put in a room by myself with a fluffy violet towel that reminded me of something and a yellow YEOWWW!! Banana. I kept looking at that violet colored towel, but oh how I loved that banana, I would rabbit kick it and kick it more. I was brought some nice wet food and water and people would come in and out to meet me and talk with me. That night I decided I did not like being in that room by myself anymore and wanted out! I still did not like that other C A T, but I wanted out of that room more! Mom showed me a nice scratching post that I really liked and she had a cat tree that I could climb (I always like the top). One time when I was up on the cat tree Violet sat on the level below me and we just looked at each other. I still was not sure about that Violet, she seemed to be very bossy. But, Mom was really nice and I soon learned if I sat beside Mom on the couch then Violet did not try to pick on me. There were so many toys to pay with scratchers, balls (I love to play fetch), little mice, springs, a track with a ball in it that lit up, a turbo scratcher with a ball, but my absolute favorites were, and still are, Cat Crazies, Loony Loops, and a bug on the string that Mom calls “buggy”. All she has to say is… “Who wants to play buggy?” .. and I am the first one there! Another favorite thing I like to do is play with Mom’s tablet by either watching videos for cats or playing games. When I see a tablet I think it is always for me. I also like to watch TV. I love to eat Fancy Feast Chicken Feast wet food, which is a pate, and Instinct Valley Rabbit, those are my favorites. For dry food I like Blue Wilderness Chicken with Life Sources. Every now and then Mom tries to get me to eat some fish, but I am not too interested. I also like Cat Man Doo Freeze dried chicken treats…those are the best! My favorite things to do these days is basically to sit around looking pretty… which I do very well, if I say so myself!! I still like to play fetch and buggy. Sometimes, I run into Mom’s bedroom and hop on the bed with a ball for her to roll back and forth with me. On days when it is really hot in Fresno (like every day..), I like to flop on top of the coffee table and let the fan blow across my tummy! Speaking of tummies… I LOVE having Mom give me tummy rubs, they are purrfectly awesome, so I beg for them a lot by putting my paws to my chin the waving them! I make sure I do this every night before “nite nite time” and I always get lots of tummy rubs. At first I was not too fond of giving kisses when I went to live in my new furever home, so I would just chuff at the top of Mom’s head. But lately, I have been testing what it is like giving some licks and I like it!! I still like to sit with Mom on the couch and now I lay my head on her leg, but sometimes I have to touch her with my foot, just to make sure she does not get up and leave me. I also have found that I really like Mom holding me close to her and brushing my fur. In the mornings if Mom does not get up when I think she should, I hop on the bed and run my paw under a picture hanging on the wall above her head, moving it back and forth making enough noise to wake her up. I can be very ornery at times, even trying to be the alpha cat instead of Violet, but that does not last long because Violet just wants to always be the boss. Once I tried to jump into the washing machine when it was filling with water, but Mom caught me just in time. I like to see what is happening when the shower is running, so I just sit outside the door and wait for an opening to try to get inside. Mom got us a new water fountain and I LOVE drinking out of the bubble in the middle of the bowl! It keeps my water so fresh and cool. It seems as though Violet and I are going to be friends after all because sometimes we sit together and watch TV, and Violet will even groom my head and back. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes I will groom Violet. We even sit at the front door and watch the ducks walking across the sidewalk. The one thing I am very sure of is that we both love our MOM very much and she loves both of us too! Violet and I are not on You Tube, but I heard Mom telling someone the other day that she is working on a website for us and it is www.violetandjoy.com. The website has lots of pictures of Violet and myself. Thanks for reading my story and have a purrrfectly wonderful day!Do you have a Ragdoll Kitten or Cat? Consider submitting your kitty! Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
Hello,
Love the story. My two babies came from Furreal as well and are both 5.5 yrs old, born May 2013, although they came from different litters. I am guessing I met Joy when I was there visiting then picking up my two. I need to go back and look at my papers to see if if Joy is one of their mammas. Charlie is a bi-color (seal) and Lucy is a pointed (seal). Mary’s Ragdolls produce some wonderful babies.
