I have been receiving the Floppycats newsletter for a few months now and about 1 month ago was amazed to see a pic of my Ragdoll cat Summer Breeze with her litter of kittens at the breeder Drouin Dolls. I bought Summer from Drouin Dolls 6 years go when she was aged 5 and now aged 11.
At the same time I also bought from Drouin Dolls Nygella Bytes a Seal Point Lilac and cream Rag Doll. She was 3 years old and is now 9 years old.
Summer attached herself to me and Nygella spent a lot of her time with my son who had returned from living in England for 16 years and staying with me while looking for his own place.
One day I was cleaning the tray Sumer used in the laundry and when I finished she ran in, stood in it, and flicked the clean litter through the door and onto the kitchen floor.
Summer would sit on my knee and Nygella next to me on the couch. Nygella loves me putting my hand next to her and she actually wraps her paw around my hand. (some times she gets onto my lap first) Summer would always know when I said come on, we going to bed, ( they slept on my bed) and she would follow me while I prepared everything. One night I had done everything then sat at my lap top , it was quite late and as usual Summer was sitting on the table watching me. Then she meowed looking at me and as I knew she was saying to go to bed I said in a minute, then she meowed again and hit me on the head!
As if to say, come on. I have only ever had “Moggie” cats and found these Ragdolls completely different and amazing. Summer is like a little dog, follows me everywhere, even to the toilet and when I have a shower sits and waits for me. Also waiting inside front door when I come home.
Nygella is copying her, she is actually like a watch dog, when we are outside in back yard when someone is coming in drive her ears prick up and she runs inside.
Not long after getting them and having an enclosure built, one morning I found Nygella OUTSIDE ENCLOSURE and meowowing to come in. The gate was locked and they were inside when I went to bed, Nygella had found a small opening where the sides joined the existing roof and climbed out. I blocked it up, but she kept looking for spots and Crying to go out, made me wonder if she escaped her enclosure at Drouin dolls and let herself back in without anyone knowing, as she used the grass for toilet, and seemed used to being outside. Whereas, Summer, had never been out so I took her out with me and she was fascinated looking at ants, small pools of water etc.,. They say inside most of the time even if I open their gate. They have never climbed the fences or tried to get out of back yard.
