Kenzie – Ragdoll of the Week
Kenzie – Ragdoll of the Week
I am lucky enough to live next door to a cat lover. My neighbor Rocky was the proud owner of a 6 month old female Ragdoll named London and Rocky told me that the breeder (Claire) had another litter, I jumped at the chance to own a cuddle rug all of my own.
I had loved the breed ever since my mum took me to my very first Cat Show when I was about 8 years old. Ragdolls were my dream cat from that day forward.
Kenzie was the runt of the litter and was not expected to live, that made him even more amazing in my eyes, and I fell in love with him the second I saw him. This tiny little bundle of love.
He was born on 5 April 2015 and I saw that as an omen that he was meant to be mine as my other cat Seda (a Russian Blue) was born 25 April 2010. Kenzie was a mere 8 weeks old and very small when I got him, all bony hips, big blue eyes and gangly legs, the perfect boy in my eyes.
His very first toy was a little yellow soft ball, he would pick it up in his mouth and carry it everywhere. No matter what expensive toy I got him, the ball won every time. Even to this day, ball is his favourite toy. He brings it to bed with him every night.
I was a bit worried what my parents were going to say when I first got Kenzie as I live alone, on a single wage, with one cat already. But I really had nothing to worry about, Kenzie won them over within seconds. In fact, my boy seems to have made my dad his best friend, when dad visits, I no longer exist and its straight to my dad’s welcoming lap.
I’m not 100% sure why he got the name Kenzie but when I saw him I knew that’s who he was, I could have something to do with to my Scottish ancestry. It could also have something to do with the fact that in Gaelic, Kenzie means Handsome, the bright one and that suits him to a T.
When my friends visit, the routine now seems to be say hi to me and then search out Kenzie for a long fur cuddle.
Kenzie’s favourite thing to do is to wake me up at 4am just to say good morning, very cute but very tiring. But he can do no wrong in my eyes, he can wake me up just to meow ‘love you mum’ whenever he likes.
I have never had a cat with such an amazing personality before, he is loving and affectionate yet wildly independent. He certainly is his own cat, but totally my boy. If a stranger approaches him, he runs straight to me. When I get home from work, my boy is sitting, or more often than not, laying at the door, waiting for me to come inside.
Living alone, it really makes me feel happy, to be welcomed home by such a sweet face, and kitty kisses.
He really is my pride and joy, in fact my dream cat, and I could never imagine my life without him, he is my child and will have a place in my heart for eternity.

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
Kenzie is certainly a handsome young fellow. I wish you many years of kitty kisses and Ragdoll love. My boys both Seal-point Rag’s are different as can be. I wouldn’t worry about how the “brother’s” get along when you are gone as I have noted that my boys kiss, snuggle, play and groom each other when they know that Mom is not watching.
Thank you everyone for the amazing comments about my baby.
Yes as you can see, Kenzie and my dad really are the best of friends.
He is my comfort at times of hardship and my joy at every other moment of life.
Seda is still a little put put that he has a younger brother but they get on ok, I think they get on better when I am not home.
What a beautiful name to match such a gorgeous boy! So glad you got Seda a new friend to play with while you are gone. Looks like he and your Dad are best buddies too! Just so sweet. Thanks so much for sharing your story and best wishes to you all.♥♥♥♥
Thank you for sharing Kenzie’s amazing love story with us! So glad you found him and knew he was The One for you!!! Such a tiny thing when you brought him home and so young! So glad he adapted well and is thriving in your care! He sounds like an amazing kitteh companion and IS SO HANDSOME!!!! Lurve all the pics but I think my very fave two are of him as a wee kitten and him snuggled up with your dad! Adorable!!!
How do Kenzie and Seda (both great names, btw!) get along? Best buddies, I hope!
Wishing all of you a wonderful long life together filled with good health, happiness, love and grand adventures!
Big hugs!

Awww- sweet Kenzie! I assume that is your dad who is holding Kenzie in his lap? Looks like true love. The bi-color pattern is my favorite- such an adorable face. Thanks for sharing his story!
Kenzie is precious. I found a rescue kitten in 1996 and he was the serious runt. We took him because he was the runt. We unfortunately lost him at the age of 18 1/2. He had a great life.Kenzie is beautiful and like our Ragdoll, Widget, he is his own person. What a great breed. We wish you many years with Kenzie. Chris Chocallo Sarasota, FFlorida
HeyJenny. Love my new Rag doll t-shirt. I bought white.
Sending you a picture soon.

glad you like it!!
Kenzie is quite the handsome boy! Doesn’t look like the runt of the litter now!! I love that you chose the one least likely to thrive. I like slow starters. They usually go the distance and never give up. Love the photo of your dad and Kenzie. Looks like they are spooning. Could it be that Dad’s tummy is nice and warm and round and that attracts Kenzie? Enjoy your little fellow. His success story shows miracles happen. After all, he found you, didn’t he?
