Shelby – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month
Shelby – A Seal Bicolor Ragdoll Kitten
My name is Shelby and I am a seal pointed bi-color ragdoll kitten from Pam’s doll house in Rochester NY. I was born on July 11 along with another sister and two brothers. I had a very playful and loving environment with cat trees and lots of other ragdoll kittens to play with. I made a few trips to the doctors to check on my health, and ate lots of yummy cat food both wet and juicy and crunchy dry kibbles. After a few months living with my mommy and my brothers and sisters, our human mom had visitors come to hold us and play with us ! The man and women who held me must have had a ragdoll kitty already, because I could smell him when the held me. I was curious to see what he might be like. I hoped they would pick me to come home with them someday. I spent another month with my brothers and sister as well as a younger family of kittens. After a final trip to the doctors I was ready to be adopted to my forever home with new humans. In the first week of October the new humans came to my house to pick me up – and guess what ? It was the same man and women that had the strange ragdoll kitty smell on them ! I was pretty scared to go into the new humans carrier, but I was a little excited as well to see where I might be moving. My human mom put some of my kitty moms scent on a towel for me so I wouldn’t be so nervous. After a short ride with the new humans I arrived at my new home in Rush NY. As soon as I came inside I saw a HUGE white and grey Ragdoll kitty looking at me in my carrier ! Wow he was big ! I was kinda glad I was safe in my carrier for now. My new human dad took me upstairs where he had a new litter box with my favorite litter, and two beautiful glass bowls for my water and food all set up. He set my carrier down and unzipped the door so I could come out and explore. I was very cautious at first because everything looked and smelled completely new. The door for downstairs was shut so my new big brother could not come and scare me, but his smell was everywhere. He smelled like a nice Ragdoll kitty, so I hoped I would be able to meet him and play with him soon. My new human daddy slept with me upstairs my first few weeks, but my first night in my new home I missed my mom and brothers and sisters so much I cried a lot. My new human dad was very kind and cuddled me all night so soon I was able to fall asleep snuggled against his furry belly. After a few days by myself upstairs with dad he put me in my carrier so I would be safe and suddenly my new big brother was looking at me ! I found out his name was LEO and he was a male blue mitted ragdoll cat. I don’t think he liked me very much because he made funny trilling noises and jumped around outside my carrier with eyes as big as saucers. My new human mom and dad took him away for a while so I could get more confident in my new home. After a couple weeks in my new upstairs home I was feeling much more relaxed and had a great time playing, wrestling with kicker toys, and snuggling with dad. I just loved to cuddle and purred my loudest when getting snuggles from mom and dad. Now it was time for me to play a little with my new big brother Leo. But there seemed to be a problem Leo was MUCH bigger than me and he played too rough. My human mom and dad where worried Leo would hurt my stitching in my belly from the doctors. They called my first human mom at the breeders to discuss with her what they should do. The breeder gave them some tips with the most important one being that they would have to take the introductions to my big brother very slowly. A nice lady my mom works with gave us a puppy tent, and I would take turns with leo being inside the tent where we could play together safely. Over the next few weeks mom and dad let us meet for just a few minutes at a time. I liked my big brother but he kept jumping on top of me and trying to smother me. I didn’t like that at all so I would kick and growl. After a while Leo stopped doing that so much and switched to grooming me instead. I liked that much better. Now we have been living together for a couple weeks and we are almost best buddies. He still jumps on top of me once in a while, but I am getting bigger and stronger and I can fight back. We have a ball chasing each other around the house. Sometimes I get to sneak attack him and jump on his back from up high. I love being able to do that. Take that big brother ! LOL. I think its hard for him to share things with me, because he was the only child for a long time before mom and dad brought me home. It was very hard for him to share mom and dads bed, but he finally did and now we get to sleep together as a family. We eat different kinds of food, but we love to trade bowls whenever mom or dad aren’t looking. Dad loves to take our picture and show everyone on Jenny Dean’s website Floppy Cats for everyone to see. Oh my Shelby- you are very cute! I wish we could see a picture of you with Leo- preferably when he’s not trying to smother you! I bet by this time next year you’ll be giving Leo a run for his money, but you’re right, it’s probably hard for him to share having been the only baby for so long. Thanks for sharing your story with us- the bi color pattern is my favorite!

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you and Leo and mommy and daddy have many years of love, snuggles, fun and purrs (and some hisses).
Shelby is so adorable! Great that she and her big brother, Leo, are getting along so well. Know they will become best friends very soon. All her pics are beautiful. Thanks for sharing her story with us.
