Maximus – A Seal Mitted Ragdoll Cat with a Blaze
This is Maximus! A.K.A. Max, Maxey, and Mr. Fluffernutter! He is a seal mitted Ragdoll with a blaze. His coloring at first reminded me of peanut butter and marshmallow cream. Years ago there was a t.v. commercial about a fluffernutter sandwich made with those ingredients! That is how I came up with Mr. Fluffernutter! I have always loved cats and have owned many over the years, but never a purebred cat. It had been about 4 years since my last cat had passed away. My husband and I had 2 Great Dane dogs at home, Sam and Lily. Sam was not doing well. We knew at age 11 1/2 our Sam would not be with us much longer. I started thinking about getting a cat, and began “looking” at local shelters and online rescue groups. That is where I came across the Ragdoll breed. After doing some research on this breed, I decided I had to have one of these beautiful cats! I decided to get my cat from a breeder. After much more research, we ended up choosing The Dollhouse Cats in southern Indiana. The breeder, Amanda Krone, was very nice to work with, and always kept me well informed and sent me pictures on the kitten’s progress every step of the way. Amanda is taking a break from breeding Ragdoll cats right now, and might possibly start her breeding program again in the future.
Maximus was born on Christmas Eve. 2015, so he just celebrated his 1st birthday on 12-24-16 and weighs in at 12 pounds! We brought Max home in April 2016 when he was 16 weeks old weighing 5 pounds. He adjusted very well to our home, and didn’t even mind our dogs! We did end up losing Sam in June 2016. Now it is Max and our Lily dog who will turn 7 years old in March. With this year being his first Christmas being around a Christmas tree, we decided to downsize to a table top tree. He did very well. We had to spray him a couple of times to train him to leave it alone. We used the spray bottle method in regards to teaching him to stay away from other situations where he could get into trouble. He is a very quick learner! It only took a couple of sprays of water and he caught on real fast!
Max is such a delight to have around. He follows me everywhere! It doesn’t matter if I leave the room for only a minute, he has to “help” me to do whatever it is I am doing! He is such a character. He has a toy box in the living room which he will go and pick out a mouse, ball, or his little stuffed red dog and carry it around and/or play with it. He especially loves chasing the laser light! He is not only a beautiful cat to look at, but very fun to watch! He is my alarm clock in the morning. He will keep walking across my body, or take his paw and gently touch my face until I get out of bed to feed him!
I was truly hoping for a “lap cat” which Max is unfortunately not. He will sit near us and likes to be petted, but not necessarily picked up and held. He will tolerate it for a very short time, and then wants to be put down. We recently switched his food from kitten food to adult food. The transition went well. We also just got him a water fountain which has made a considerable difference in the amount of water he drinks. He is definitely drinking more!
I do still miss having a “lap cat” and am seriously considering adding another Ragdoll cat to our family. Wish me luck for a snuggle cat!

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
He is beautiful! Love the blaze. You are not alone with “non-lap” cat – ours are not either! We are hoping someday a switch will go off! Thanks for sharing me. Fluffanutter’s story!
Max is gorgeous! Beautiful markings and such adorabibble kitten pix. I loved reading his antics. Our Tziyon retrieves his mini stuffed animals as well. (Even steals my daughter’s larger ones as well.)
What a wonderful part of your family. I highly recommend a second Ragdoll, you can never have enough. 😉
Blessings,
Natalie
From tiny adorable kitten to big handsome cat – Marshmallow Crème indeed! 🙂 Thanks for sharing the sweet pictures of Maximus and your story. I hope you’ll consider a rescue Ragdoll as you search for a lap kitty. (I had two beautiful boys who were utterly devoted and stuck to me like glue.) You might be pleasantly surprised…
Wow! What a stunning boy Max is!! He was an adorable kitten for sure. But as a young adult he is gorgeous. Yes, go and get him a playmate! Although he seems to get along well with his pooch-sibling Lily. Enjoy your furry family.
Such a beauty! That baby picture on the blue blanket is to die over! If you are ever in California and want to drop by, my cat Emily would be happy to sit on your lap for hours at a time. You might change your mind! Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful Maximus with us.

Thank you so much for sharing your love story with Maximus!!! HE IS GORGEOUS!!! I lurve his little choochie schmoochie kitten face! That little blaze is beautiful! And WOW! Did he grow up to be a STUNNING boy!!!! Lurve, lurve, lurve all the pics. So happy he gets along with your Great Dane, Lily! (I adore that pic of them both on the cough! Lily is very beautiful as well…her coloring is AMAZING!) (And…I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved companion, Sam. RIP, sweet boy.)
I hope you get a second Ragdoll (I want one so much!) that will fulfill your need for a snuggly lap cat! (Our girl, Miss Pink Sugarbelle, who is a Blue Lynx Bi-Color, is not much of a snuggler either. She also will tolerate being held but after a bit she begins to wiggle around to be released. She’s 4 years old and is becoming more affectionate and more snuggly laying between our legs in our recliners. She’ll site on my hubby’s lap but not on mine…I think it’s because I’m up and down so much doing this and that around the apartment where my hubby’s tushy is pretty much glued to his chair for the most part…lol)
Wishing you, your hubby, Mr. Fluffernutter (such a great nickname!) and Lily many years of good health, love, happiness and furry adventures together!
Big hugs & lots of love!
Patti & Miss Pink Sugarbelle 🙂 <3
