Missy – Ragdoll of the Week
I have always been a cat person. I grew up around cats on the farm. I had my very own cat named Lucy for sixteen years. She became a special part of my life. My husband and I tried to have children for a long time. Lucy helped fill the void all of the years I remained childless. She was a loveable calico lap cat. I had never experienced such a deep loss of a pet after she passed. I knew I wanted another cat. I almost got another calico cat that I found on Pet Finder; however the resemblance reminded me of Lucy. So I wanted my new kitty to be unique.
One day I happened to look through a Cat Fancy magazine and learned about different breeds. I was intrigued by the qualities of the Ragdoll breed. They have stunning blue eyes, soft rabbit like fur that does not matt easily, and have a docile temperament. I researched more online and found the Angel Kissed Ragdolls website. It is a small cattery that raises their kitties inside their home. I fell in love with the pictures of the beautiful cats. My kitten was born on October 7, 2012. I was so excited to meet my new kitty and picked her out from the litter beforehand. I anxiously waited for three months to bring her home and it was right after Christmas. My Ragdoll is a precious gift to myself that has brought me so much joy. I named my kitty Missy. I did not care that she was the runt – I knew she was meant to be mine when she walked right over to me and I held her in my arms. Missy is my petite baby girl and she is healthy. There was another adorable kitten from the litter and I wondered what happened to her. I was amazed to have stumbled across her owner when she posted her Ragdoll Kitten of the Month story on the Floppy Cats website – how awesome is that!
True to the nature of the breed, Missy has such a sweet disposition and flops like a rag doll when I carry her. Every night before I go to bed, I pick her up in my arms as she stretches and relaxes her body. As I wake up, she says good morning with some petting and snuggling. She greets me at the door every day when I get home and follows me around the house. I think the Ragdoll breed is truly remarkable. It is fascinating how their beautiful fur changes color as they mature. Missy is now two years old. I just love my seal mitted Ragdoll.
Just about seven years ago my husband and I expanded our family through the adoption of our son. That was such a surreal experience seeing him for the very first time after much waiting and anticipation. Michael is gentle with Missy and enjoys having a pet around too. We consider her a part of our family. Missy is definitely the little princess in our home. I look forward to many joyous years together with all of my beloved family members.
