Lodie – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month
We added a Blue Color point Ragdoll girl, “Lodie”, to our family on March 15, 2022. She was born at a breeder in Texas on 9/17/2021 and was hand delivered with care to our home in Florida.
We already have 2 boys, Benjamin, a Seal Point British Longhair and Rex, a Ruddy Somali but decided to add a little girl to our family since I now work from home and have more time to nurture a kitten.
I owned a sweet male Ragdoll in the past and thought the outgoing temperament would be a good mix with our boys. I saw Lodie’s photos and video on the breeder’s website and fell in love. When the woman taking the video stretched out her hand to pet the kitten, her back immediately hunched up, head down, kneading the blanket before she was even touched.
As beautiful as she was, I was struck by her sweet disposition and affectionate nature. We are still amazed every day at just how sweet and cute she is! We chose the name of “Lodie” to honor my husband’s nanny when he was a young child. She has always had a special place in his heart and we thought the name was a good fit the petite girl with the bright blue eyes.
Everyone who meets her, even dedicated dog lovers, can’t help but to comment on how they would love to have one just like her.
She has all of the classic Ragdoll characteristics: her fur is soft as a bunny with delicate facial features. She is very bright and has quickly learned the ins and outs of kitten life in our home. Floppy, to be sure…my son said she becomes like “liquid” when you pick her up.
She is not too interested in high perches and prefers to be on the bed, couch or on the TV console when we are in the living room. She is very interested in whatever activity is going on and when she is awake, she stays quite busy. Whatever she is doing, it looks as if she is posing for a photo op!
She loves all things with feathers and those little balls with a jingle bell inside. She will frequently tear through the house with one in her mouth. She loves to be held and will jump from one person to another if she feels the petting may be better over there.
Her favorite move is to walk up to someone and just roll onto her back, no one can resist her soft belly. She can’t get enough and sometimes wakes us up just to get her belly rubbed.
Needless to say, we adore her. Her brothers Benjamin and Rex think she is pretty interesting and they are often found hanging out together. They have taken to her very well. I cooked all day yesterday with family coming to Easter Sunday dinner but rather than the meal stealing the show, that award went to Miss Lodie, to be sure!!! As it should…
Submit Your Cat Story
Ragdoll of the Week or Floppycat of the Week on Floppycats isn’t a contest or really a selection process – as long as you follow these guidelines (that keep us sane), and submit your story and photos in full, your kitty will be next in line for Ragdoll of the Week or the Floppycat of the Week. If you are interested in submitting your kitty as Cat of the Week, we welcome you to share stories and photos of your cat or cats with us and Floppycats.com’s readers.
We know that not every Floppycats.com reader has a Ragdoll cat. And we’re not Ragdoll cat exclusive, so we started a Floppycat of the Week so that readers who don’t have Ragdolls could share their kitties too! Or readers with Ragdolls and other kinds of kitties, could share their whole house of kitties individually.
