It’s important to take good care of your kitty and keeping a few products around to promote her health and wellness is a great start. Some important basic steps to keep your cat well are to take care of her coat, her nails, and skin. Cats groom themselves, but to help prevent fur balls, matted hair, and snarls you should comb or brush their hair to remove the dead coat. When the seasons change this is especially important because many cats will shed. If you have a long-haired cat, like a Ragdoll cat, you may need to do this much more often than with a short haired breed. Another product to keep on hand is a set of nail clippers to trim your kitty’s nails. There are two basic kinds of cat nail clippers – those with a quick guard and those without. A quick guard is a hole you put your cat’s nail through, so that only the end of the nail is exposed, and you don’t clip too far up (where the blood flow is). If you have a cat who moves a lot while trimming or you have a hard time seeing the difference between the quick and the nail, the clippers with a quick guard would be a good option for you. If you can see the quick or your pets don’t mind having their nails cut, another type of clipper would work just as well.
