Ragdoll Kitten Issues
“Hi, I am wondering if you or any Facebook followers would be able to give me some advice. I recently got my ragdoll kitten Mia from a local breeder. She was 16 weeks old when I got her. So I was able to get a discount, and from the pictures I was sent of her, I could tell she was scared. She was kept in a catery and I’m not sure if she was alone or with other kitten’s. The lady I got her from is older and lives alone, so Mia didn’t have alot of socialization. I have 2 younger kids and she was scared to the point she wouldn’t come out from under my bed till night when they were sleeping and it went on for at least 2 weeks. Now, I have had her for going on 3 month’s but I have this issue with her and I’m trying to figure out why she does this. I have 3 other cats as well. She loves 2 of them but swats at my outside inside cat. I feed them twice a day and when I do, she acts like she is starving and eats it so fastly. Then she will go around to the other cats bowls and eat their food also. I have put her back at her bowl many times and she has gotten a little better with it, but she acts as if she is starving and needing to eat her food fastly so she can finish the other animals food also. I have separated her into the other room but then I just feel bad. Should I keep doing that? Or I will hold her till they finish. Also with treats, she is a little aggressive not meaning to be, but she will eat hers very fastly and my other cats haven’t finished and she will steal their treats and she is quick! She will smack at my hand as I feed it to her as if it can’t get to her fast enough. No nails though. Also if my son is holding her and I am feeding her treats, she will grab my hand with both paws pulling me to her mouth as if she’s trying to move me faster and nails have came out. I was feeding 3 times a day but one of them started throwing up so I went to twice a day. I havnt seen anymore throw up but she always acts like she’s so hungry and wants to take the other cats and even the dogs food and treats. Should I start doing 3 small meals instead? I noticed her getting a plump belly also. She’s very sweet and has came along way but is still scared of my kids. I try and hold her and show her as much love as she will let me and she seems to like me the most, she will follow me around the house but during the day she likes to hide and sleep because of the noise.”

2-Year Old Ragdoll Cat Diagnosed with HCM
Dawn wrote in, “I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask a question. My little one Madelyn is 2 and was diagnosed with HCM. The breeder told me that while she does test the parents, she claims her cats test 100% negative, there are several strands that are not tested for. Is that correct? How can breeders claim they are negative then?
Thanks so much”
I replied, “I do not know much about HCM. I am so sorry about your little Madelyn.
I posted your question on our Facebook page. I hope someone has responded there that might be able to help clarify things:
That link will work indefinitely – so be sure to check it again in 24 hours as more people reply.”
We do have a page on the site that talks about HCM in Ragdolls.
Wet Cat Food Can Covers

“Hi Jenny,
Do you know where I can purchase lids for my cats wet food, they don’t eat the whole can at once and I would love to cover the can. Can you tell me where I can purchase these lids. I don’t want the double size lids that can fit two types of cans, I just want for the regular size cans. Thanks, Ed “
