Eli and Oscar – Ragdolls of the Week

Meet Eli and Oscar, two beautiful Ragdolls.  They came to live with us on March 17, 2012 and we could not be happier!  They previously lived in Suwanee, Georgia with a wonderful family, but due to one of the children’s allergies, they could no longer keep them.  They were placed for re-homing on floppycats.com.

I became interested in Ragdolls through a friend searching for a new kitty.   Having lost our Persian (18 years old and the last one out of four) in December, 2011, we were thinking of looking for a new kitty and decided to go the way of re-homing.  We have never had anything but Persians so we had to do some reading on the different Eli and Oscartypes of cats.  We started looking at different websites to try and determine which of the breeds we were interested in were available and the more we looked the harder it became to decide, especially when you see all the cats needing homes.

My friend sent me the link to Eli and Oscar and we immediately fell in love.  After we discussed adopting two versus one, I immediately contacted their mom to see if they were still available and they were! (We had held our breath afraid that they would already be adopted.)

They are two special boys!  To quote their previous mom:

“Eli is a 3 year old blue mitted male. He is a snuggle bunny and loves to sit and sleep as

close as possible to you. He is a quiet, loving boy. Oscar is almost 2 years old and is a seal point. He is energetic and loves to play. Full of personality and will run in front of you and fall down to get a belly rub.”

I can see where it will be easy to love and spoil these two boys.  They are smart and loving and we are finding the difference in personalities so amazing!  Oscar is Eli’s “mini-me”.  He will follow Eli around and copy almost everything he does (Oscar prefers to stay close to the ground while Eli sees tall objects a challenge!).  They will share their toys, food and water fountain without a problem.  Eli is becoming very vocal in letting us know his thoughts and wishes, and Oscar is quite content to let Eli speak for him.  It is very obvious that these boys were well-loved in their previous home just by how social they are.  We have had visitors visit our home to welcome them to the family and they have to see who it

is.  They are adjusting to our home much more easily than I would have imagined.  Of course, their previous mom has been wonderful in giving us information and being available for questions that arise and this has made the transition from their house to ours much less stressful for Eli and Oscar.

If you are looking for a sweet, loving personality, the Ragdoll cat is the way to go.  They will steal your heart within minutes of meeting them.
