Coco Beans – Floppycat of the Week

Coco Beans - Floppycat of the WeekWhen my daughter Kayse was in college at Auburn University in 2008 she called me all excited about this beautiful kitten she had just gotten. She was just a sophomore in college and I said the last thing you need is a kitten to take care of. It takes time and money and needless to say she was in love and had already brought this 7 week old kitten home. She named her coco … Later to become coco beans. The first two years of cocos life she lived in Kayses apartment in auburn with her roommate who had a puppy. These two ( well really four!) grew up together during those last two years of college. Over those two years she brought coco home a lot to Chattanooga Tennessee. Each time I fell more in love with her. You know the saying you don’t pick a cat – the cat picks you. Well she picked us. Kayse took wonderful care of her, got her shots and got her fixed. Kept her indoors and was a wonderful kitty mommy. However once she graduated she had an internship to do for 6 months in Memphis. The apartment didn’t allow cats. So me and my husband gladly kept her. She loved us but really loved Kayse the most and would lay on her bed all the time waiting for her to come home. True to what my daughter said before she left “moms she’s never slept alone – she will cry”, we found out very soon how true this was. By day she laid on Kayses bed waiting for her to come home but every night she found her way to our bed. To a nice pillow. My husband said I can’t sleep on pillows with all that fur get her a cat bed. So I did. It didn’t take me long to see that the cat bed wouldn’t work for her in the floor so we put it in our king size bed. This sufficed for her.

Coco Beans - Floppycat of the Week 4So once the 6 months internship was over for our daughter she came home to Chattanooga. By this time coco beans was long past laying on Kayses bed waiting for her. She had fallen as in love with us as we had her. I was ready to fall apart when Kayse followed her heart back to Auburn Alabama where she landed a good job and where her boyfriend who is now her husband lived. Again came the apartment that didn’t allow pets. It didn’t seem to matter because coco had already fallen in love with us and we were so in love with her. Kayse tried taking her to auburn for a week just to see and clearly coco wasn’t happy there. Her home was now with us. So thankfully we made the trip to retrieve what had become our ” child”. By now her cat bed in our king sized bed had become her pillow where she only laid her head. The rest of her body she laid in bed just like we did. I’ve had cats since I was a child but none like this girl. She has all kinds of toys and she to this day drags one or more to the door she last saw us at when we go to work or even if we leave for an hour. When she thinks she’s alone in the house she carries her favorite one her blue bear in her mouth and cries. Very vocal and loud. If we are gone she when drop it our feet so we can throw it for her. Anytime she’s left alone in the room she talks her talk until I ” cat talk ” back to her and she can find what room we are in.

Coco Beans - Floppycat of the Week 5Three months ago I got laid off from work. I hand to admit these last few months of not having to leave her to go to work have literally been priceless. This may all sound crazy but this cat is even better than human. She is a big part of our family and since our kids are grown now she really is like our child. Unless your an animal person or more specifically a cat / ragdoll person this probably sounds crazy. She is the most unique animal ever. Paws always crossed. Groomed to at all times. She carries herself like royalty and expects to be treated as such. And she is the sweetest baby I’ve ever known. I’ve had many cats and dogs I’ve loved dearly. I love all animals very much. But this cat is so much more than I can even write about. She is so precious when we go on vacation I wouldn’t go if I had to board her. I pay a young lady to come house / cat sit so she’s not alone. I pay extra for her to spend the night. I wouldn’t go on vacation if it meant boarding her.

As you can tell I can go on and on. She is one special girl.

Hi, what a doll baby, mine sleep with me and on my bed all day too, I use a lint brush on the whole bed each night before I go to bed. Removes an amazing amount of fur and I don’ have to sleep on it….

I love the name Coco!! It suits her perfectly. I agree with freemsuz that Coco is definitely more like “Chanel” than “Beans” in her demeanor. She is exquisite and I love her almost brindle markings on her legs and paws. So glad the situation worked to your advantage and you got to keep her with you. Please give her kisses and pets from my kitty Gracie Ann (who is not a floppy cat).

Wow! What an absolutely lovely story about your Coco Beans! She is STUNNING!!! I absolutely LURVE, LURVE, LURVE her colors and markings! GORGEOUS! So glad everything worked out the way it did and she found her true furever home with you and your hubby. She’s obviously loved by many and spoiled rotten (as she should be!)! She’s definitely an Empress and a Quirky Kitteh all rolled into one! Adore each and every beautiful picture of your baby girl!!!!

Such a happy story filled with lots of love! Wishing you, Coco Beans and your family many more years of good health, happiness & love together!!!

    Big hugs!

I loved the way you gushed about your baby! What a beautiful kid. I can feel your angst when you thought your daughter was going to take her back……and happy for you and your husband that you won the final homestead decision :–)

Coco’s personality is evident, and your deep love for her too! You’re all lucky. Instead of “Beans’, she looks more like a “Chanel” ♥
