CanvasDiscount.com Photo Canvas, Photo Blanket and Photo Mousepad Product Review

One cold winter morning when I received a request from CanvasDiscount.com looking to collaborate with Floppycats, I had no idea what fun it would be!  I was telling a good friend of mine on the phone the other day that the CanvasDiscount.com review has been one of my most favorite reviews to do.  I think one of the reasons that it has been so fun (apart from the fact that the contact I work with there is great at follow-through) is that readers have really gotten involved.  As soon as I posted our “arrival/unboxing” video (really, it was a “how to place an order on CanvasDiscount.com – see it below), readers started placing their own orders and then sharing them with me. I then started sharing those photos on our social media (have embedded those posts from our Facebook page below as well) and then more readers got involved sharing theirs. One of the things that excites me the most about Floppycats is the community aspect and this review of canvas prints has definitely become a community event =). The ordering process was super simple – I included a recorded screen of the ordering process in our “arrival” video below.

The canvas print we got from CanvasDiscount.com is now hanging in my dining room.  The canvas is of a decent quality and the frame is super sturdy.  I would think the higher the pixel rate of your photo, the better the canvas print is going to turn out (that would go for the blanket and the mousepad too). CanvasDiscount.com offered to send me their hanging set (see photo of the little bag you get below).  As of now, there are no directions sent with the hanging pieces.  I had to ask through e-mail, but we just used previously acquired common sense.  I did not have the battery on my drill charged, so you will see in the review video below that my dad did it the old fashion way. I love, love, love the canvas photo print.  It turned out great.  However, I would not order their hanger set again.  I would probably just head to the framer’s and have them install it, or I would head the hardware store and find what I need there.  I didn’t like the string that came in the bag (I prefer metal wire to hang pictures).  The hanger set did it’s job and what it was supposed to do, however, I felt it could have been better/more favorable. Many readers ordered these canvas prints as well – and I have shared their photos below.

Premium Photo Blanket 60″ x 80″

This ladies and gents, is the show stopper.  I love this blanket.  It is SOOO cool.  I mean, the photo used, duh, is brilliant because it’s of a cat soulmate of mine (CAYMUS!!)…but the quality of the blanket is gorgeous. It is super soft, made of 100% polyester. Shortly after I got the blanket, my sister celebrated her birthday.  So I took the blanket to my parents’ house for my sister’s birthday dinner.  I showed all of my family members – saying, “Want to see the latest thing I’m reviewing on Floppycats?”  And they would say, “Sure.”  And then I would open up the blanket of Caymus’ face, and they would all smile saying how cool it was. The thing is though – you could make this blanket using any photo – make a photo collage, for example.  And then you almost have your own photo quilt, for example.  The possibilities are endless.

I also ran it through the washing machine – and dryer.  It has to be washed on the cold cycle and then I dried it on the low heat setting on my dryer and it did just fine.  It is made in Germany and the tag on the blanket (this is all covered in the review video below) gives you the washing instructions, however, they are all symbols including the washing temperature of 30 degrees – which is Celsius, not Fahrenheit. I have contacted CanvasDiscount.com about that – as I think they will run into problems with Americans with that.  American brains default to Fahrenheit and not to Celsius.  I just don’t want someone ordering a beautiful blanket they love, only to wash it and destroy it.  So I do hope the current tag is replaced or added to so that buyers can easily know proper washing instructions without having to look up what all the symbols mean.   I truly love this photo blanket -it turned out just how I envisioned it on my guest bed.  I always have a blanket on that bed to keep the cat hair off the spread and instead of my old college sweatshirt blanket, I now have Caymus’ beautiful face instead.  It’s just cool. Photo Mousepad

I have ordered photo mousepads before.  This one turned out like the others – what I expected.  The photo on the mousepad of Trigg was taken by my iPhone and still turned out great.  I wanted to use a photo that wasn’t taken professionally (since I used professionally taken photos for the canvas and the blanket). I took some up close photos of the mousepad, so you can see the quality.  One reader made a photo of her cat yawning into a mousepad, which is pretty funny.  I am sure many people out there have come up with some really cute photo mousepad gift ideas. All in all, I am really pleased with all 3 products we got to review from CanvasDiscount.com.  The entire process – from them contacting me to review their products to writing this review has been enjoyable.  They are an awesome company for me to work with (which isn’t always the case when I do reviews), and I so enjoyed the readership’s involvement in this review (please see social media posts embedded below).  Thank you to those who shared their creations with me – either through email or on our social media! The ordering process was easy and the products came in a timely manner (they did all come individually and not together – although they were all ordered in one order).  The canvas print came first, then the mousepad and then the blanket.
