Astrid – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month

Meet Astrid, the newest addition to our family. Astrid is 6 months old.  Astrid is our 4th Ragdoll..  Sasha, our rescue, is approximately 3 years old. Luka, and Willow are 9 months old and they are littermates .  My husband and I saw Crescent Moon Ragdoll’s post about an available kitten. We got Luka and Willow from this breeder.  The kitten , Astrid, is their niece. My husband and I were both excited to add Astrid to the fur family just 2 weeks after seeing the post. Astrid had the easiest transition of all of our Ragdolls.

Astrid was born May 16th, 2021. Astrid is a seal point mitted with a blaze.  Her blaze looks a bit like an exclamation mark with 2 dots under it.  I think the dots look like teeth!  I love kittens with a blaze.

Astrid  is smart, independent, and she knows how to read the room.  Astrid is mature for her age.  She keeps out of trouble with the other cats, because she pays attention to their moods and responds accordingly.  She knows when to approach and when to stay away.

Astrid is adventurous and loves to chase and climb.  When Astrid runs, she sounds like a galloping horse.   We can always tell when Astrid is running around!  We have a catified basement and Astrid likes to go crazy running across the platforms.  Astrid knows my husband goes to scoop the litter box at night. Sometimes, Asrid will wait for him at the top of the stairs. When Astrid sees him, she runs downstairs to play.  It is their evening ritual.

Sometimes,  Astrid waits at the door to the garage for me to get home. I have learned to open the door carefully.

Astrid likes to climb to the highest possible point. We have cat trees from purrniture.com in St Paul, MN.  Astrid likes to be on the highest spot.  Astrid and Willow are always competing for this sleeping spot.

One of the foods in rotation has been Stella and Chewy dehydrated raw.   Sasha, Willow, and Luka love it. Astrid was not impressed.  She doesn’t like dehydrated or rehydrated food. Astrid does like Darwin’s raw food. We feed her Darwin’s and a rotation of canned food.  She is the last one to leave the dish.

Astrid likes Necoichi’s dish bed.  She often sleeps in it under the coffee table.  Astrid also loves to sleep in the Catit cannon.  Cats do love confined spaces!

Astrid will  greet any new person coming to the house.  She is curious and likes to see what they are doing. She is not fearful of strangers.

Astrid does not like riding in the car, but she will sleep in her carrier at home.

Of all of our cats, Astrid is the best behaved in the bath.  Luka and Willow act like you are torturing them. It takes 2 of us to contain them and the walls still get soaked.    Astrid doesn’t like a bath, but she tolerates the process.

We think that Astrid is the perfect fit for our family .  We have a full home and full hearts. Ragdolls are truly amazing.
