Luna – Floppycat of the Week
Luna – Floppycat of the Week
Luna is a 2-year-old Siamese-Tabby cat with blue eyes and dull white fur, except for her tail and parts of her face. She has dark gray tabby markings on her face, and a dark gray and ginger tail, although the ginger is only noticeable if you look very closely.
We used to live in California, where Luna was adopted, and moved to New Mexico last year. Luna was adopted from the Pasadena Humane Society in August 2013 when she was only two months old. I’ll tell you her meant-to-be story. We wanted two cats after our other three had died, and started looking online. We picked Luna, then named Ruby, just because we liked her. We had also picked Brownie, then Julian. They were separate on the website and the website gave no indication they were together. We walked into the humane society on a Sunday morning and right on the front desk was a picture of Luna and Brownie together! They are not from the same litter, but are so close that the humane society wouldn’t let them get adopted separately. They had come in very tiny around the same time and wouldn’t be here if a kind worker hadn’t fostered them.
Luna likes her cat tower, going for walks, catnip, being petted, sleeping, watching birds and squirrels, cardboard boxes, and basically anything that fits the category food (and some things that don’t!). Her current favorite food is lettuce! Yes, she likes lettuce more than tuna. What kind of cat prefers lettuce over tuna? Luna also likes to eat spiders, popcorn, butter, flies, cockroaches, and basically anything. Some of Luna’s favorite things that she highly recommends to other cats: cardboard boxes, and some good advice is to eat any bug that happens to wander into your range of vision. Luna is a strange cat in another way, too: she loves water. Sometimes she sits in the bathtub and waits for us to turn it on. When we turn it on, she puts her paws in it and plays with it. Of course, then she spends fifteen minutes grooming herself.
Luna does not like strangers, vacuums, outdoor cats walking in HER backyard, and not being allowed access to certain rooms of the house.
A product I would highly recommend to other cat owners is the Scratch Lounge Classic World’s Best Cat Scratcher. Another great cat product is the You & Me Bungalow Cat Tree, which Luna loves. Luna’s favorite food is BFF Pouches, and her favorite treats are made by Wellness. I also highly recommend any sort of box or basket. Luna’s favorite toys are mouse toys, catnip toys, jingly balls, and anything that looks like a string. This includes iPod cords, pipe cleaners, twisty ties, rubber bands, hair ties, and much more.
Luna has many nicknames, some of which are Loony, Luna Tuna, The Girl, Loony Boony, and Purr Cat.
I also post about wild birds and nature.
Thank you for looking at my website and voting for Luna! I hope you enjoyed Luna’s story!

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
Just went to your website and love all your beautiful photos! Especially love the little hummer because I have one straggler that is still here with just one other that have not migrated south. He is about the size of a thumb and one of your photos reminded me of this little one here. Can see you love nature just as I do. Welcome you to visit us on FB at Heart of Grace1.♥♥♥
Luna is so gorgeous! Love her sweet story and so glad you adopted her and Brownie too! Sounds like they have a wonderful home with lots of toys, favorite foods (lettuce)! and bugs to catch and eat. Mine do the same thing! I just voted and hope that Luna wins! Good luck!♥♥♥
Luna is beautiful! I was concerned, however, about her love for anything that looks like a string and rubber bands & hair ties. My wonderful Siamese kitty almost died from eating string which became compacted and lodged in the small space just before her small intestines. She was very, very sick and survived only after emergency exploratory surgery. I’ve also read about rubber bands and hair ties doing the same thing. I don’t want to frighten you, but want to alert you to the dangers of these articles. Please don’t let her eat anything that won’t dissolve in her digestive tract. She doesn’t know any better and it’s just not worth the risk.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading sweet Luna’s biography. Voted for her in the Modern Cat Contest, of course!
luna is adorable, thanks for your and her story. she sounds so delightful and funny. a lettuce eating cat! i used to have a cat that LOVED asparagus. cats are a trip!
Luna is a lynxpoint and a pretty one at that! I love her name as I have a dog named Luna and I use some of those same nicknames! Luna the cat is so lucky to have been rescued. She sounds like quite the character.
That Luna is such a character!
Thank you for sharing Luna’s story with us! She is absolutely STUNNING!!!! So amazing how Luna and Brownie were a set and you picked them both without even knowing about that!!!! Wow! Awesome!!!
Luna sounds absolutely adorable and I lurve her quirkiness. One thing, I recently learned regarding spiders and kittehs. Daddy long leg spiders are poisonous to cats so be on the watch for those!
I’m going to check out your website and vote for Luna and take a look at Brownie (who I’m sure is just as lovely and adorable as Luna!)!!!
Big hugs!
Patti & Miss Pink Sugarbelle 🙂 <3
P.S. So sorry for the loss of your three kittehs. BIG HUGS!
