Casper Blue – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month
We purchased our dear Casper Blue from Rouletii Ragdolls in Fox Lake, Wisconsin. Casper is a male, and the Ragdoll color pattern seal-mitted. He was born on June 28, 2023, and we anxiously waited all summer until the day we could bring him to his forever home!
Adopted from Rouletii Ragdolls
On September 17, my boys and I (ages 14 and 16) made the 2-hour drive north with an empty carrier and came home with the cutest little ball of fluff we could imagine! Desiree at Rouletii Ragdolls was so wonderful about sending us photos during the summer and keeping us updated on everything we needed to know about Casper! I would highly recommend her!
Inspired by a Ragdoll Roomie
We became interested in Ragdolls about 5 years ago, when we had a blue-mitted Ragdoll named Dallas live with us for a while. I realized that I was not as allergic to Dallas as I was to some other cats! Due to life’s circumstances, Dallas moved out with his original owner, and I immediately promised my boys we would find our own Ragdoll! We located our breeder within a couple of days, and found out that a litter was due very soon!
How Casper Got His Name
We decided on the name Casper because, of course, he was born white. We knew he wouldn’t stay white, but we still felt like it was a fitting name. We decided on Blue for a middle name because that is Dallas’ middle name, and of course because of those beautiful blue eyes! We often call Casper “Bluey” as his nickname!
Casper’s Favorite Toy
Casper’s favorite toy is a wire toy. I tied some Christmas curling ribbon to the end of it! He also has a stuffed Panda that he drags around and “attacks” – we think he kind of resembles the Panda with his coloring, too! His favorite place to lay is at the top of our stairs, where he can observe everything, or in his cardboard scratching ‘bowl’ – which seems uncomfortable, but he loves it!
Casper’s Future
He is not much of a lap cat yet, but maybe he will be as he gets older! In the warmer weather, he loved laying near the window and watching squirrels and birds in our yard. I can’t wait for warmer weather here in Wisconsin so he can enjoy the fresh air once again!
What Casper Eats
So far, Casper is eating a mix of Iams Proactive Healthy Kitten and Royal Canin kitten dry food, which he has free access to. Once a day, around noon or early afternoon, he gets about a tablespoon or two of Untamed wet food. I am happy we decided to not really have his wet food on a schedule so he is not begging for it in the morning or at night! Fortunately, my mom comes over most days to visit him at midday and give him his wet food! I can’t believe how big he got, so quickly!
Where Casper Sleeps
For the first few months, we had him sleeping in his room during the night – a spare bedroom with a couch, a cat tree, and, of course, food and litter. It was nice not having to worry about him waking us up during the night!
Casper Free Roaming in the House Now
The last couple of weeks, we have left him out during the night, but we still close our doors. He seems to be content and is sleeping at the top of the stairs (his favorite spot!) when we wake up! So we are hopeful we can continue to keep our bedroom doors closed and get some good sleep!
