UPDATE May 24, 2016 -Read our post about why the Zen Clippper is a great cat nail clipper for blind people. When I was at SuperZoo in Las Vegas in July, I was walking the aisles, looking at all the pet products and saw the Zen Clipper cat nail clippers and thought the concept was really cool. The lady doing the demo for them was using a toothpick to show how they cut nails. These cat nail clippers are designed to clip the tip of the nail through a conical blade that only allows the tip of the pet's nail into the cutting area. It's great for those concerned about clipping the quick - as you safely clip the tip of the nail, avoiding the quick. You can see this in the illustration below as well. They come in three different sizes: small, medium and large. We got the large to product test - I thought that it might be too big for Trigg's nails, but the large was perfect for them both, as you can see in the final review video below. Charlie and Trigg are 14 lb cats, but have thick nails. I think I might have gotten a medium for my sister's cats who are 9lbs and 12 lbs, for example.I think these are great - I don't worry about cutting the quick on my cats' nails because it is easy for me to see - their claws are clear, so you can easily see the pink quick area. However, I really like how these cut and how the cats respond to them. So, I will keep these around and put them in an easy to access drawer. I like to keep cat nail clippers in 3 drawers in my house, so that when I get the urge to knock it out, there is a pair nearby. What do you look for when you buy a pair of cat claw cutters?
Figure Out Which Size You Need
You can request that a sizing card be sent to you or you can download and print one here. Below are photos a reader sent in of the card she received to figure out which size she needs - just stick your kitty's claw through the hole to see which one will work.
