Zen Clipper Cat Nail Clippers Product Review
Zen Clipper Cat Nail Clippers Product Review
UPDATE May 24, 2016 –Read our post about why the Zen Clippper is a great cat nail clipper for blind people. When I was at SuperZoo in Las Vegas in July, I was walking the aisles, looking at all the pet products and saw the Zen Clipper cat nail clippers and thought the concept was really cool. The lady doing the demo for them was using a toothpick to show how they cut nails. These cat nail clippers are designed to clip the tip of the nail through a conical blade that only allows the tip of the pet’s nail into the cutting area. It’s great for those concerned about clipping the quick – as you safely clip the tip of the nail, avoiding the quick. You can see this in the illustration below as well. They come in three different sizes: small, medium and large. We got the large to product test – I thought that it might be too big for Trigg’s nails, but the large was perfect for them both, as you can see in the final review video below. Charlie and Trigg are 14 lb cats, but have thick nails. I think I might have gotten a medium for my sister’s cats who are 9lbs and 12 lbs, for example. I think these are great – I don’t worry about cutting the quick on my cats’ nails because it is easy for me to see – their claws are clear, so you can easily see the pink quick area. However, I really like how these cut and how the cats respond to them. So, I will keep these around and put them in an easy to access drawer. I like to keep cat nail clippers in 3 drawers in my house, so that when I get the urge to knock it out, there is a pair nearby. What do you look for when you buy a pair of cat claw cutters?Figure Out Which Size You Need
You can request that a sizing card be sent to you or you can download and print one here. Below are photos a reader sent in of the card she received to figure out which size she needs – just stick your kitty’s claw through the hole to see which one will work.Buy the Zen Clipper Cat Nail Clippers

Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
It seems as though the final review video isn’t the actual final review… What was your final thoughts on these clippers? I’m also curious about the proper size to get -if you did approve of them. I couldn’t quite tell, but it seems like you thought medium might be the better choice?
hmmm…why don’t you think the video does a good job? or the written review?
i love these clippers – use them every time i cut my cat’s claws. knowing what size to get without having these and your cat present to “test” is one of the hardest things about these clippers. i think i talked about these medium/yellow ones being a great size for my cats, who are ragdolls.
does that answer all of your concerns? i am surprised this wasn’t crystal clear in the written review either.
Ha! I honestly didn’t read the review! I just watched the videos >_<
I didn't think the videos *didn't* do a good job (quite the contrary), I just didn't find a place where you gave a definitive answer as to what size to choose (like what I've since found in the text).
FWIW, Your second video gave me the impression that the jury might be out on sizing. I assumed the final word on sizing would likely be included in the "final product review" video -which you mentioned during the initial opening video that you'd create (assuming you liked the product). Since I didn't find this final video, I thought I'd just ask you directly.
Right, there is NO WAY I could tell you what size to order for your cat! That’s absurd for me to know what size when I’ve never met your cat.
My cats love a good brushing or comb, but hate to get their nails trimmed. So I have started using the “Thunder shirt” when it’s time for a nail trim. Helps alot. No more wiggle butts! I have a nail clipper that is very similar.
Thanks Charlie & Trigg!
Great review Jenny.
thanks, becca!
Another great product and review, Jenny! Video rocked, as usual! Thank you so much! I think the medium size would work best for our darling Miss Pink Sugarbelle. I have put these on my Kitteh Wish List for the future. I think even I (with my nerve damaged hands) could use these quite easily with the nice grips they have. 🙂
Big hugs!
Patti & Miss Pink Sugarbelle 🙂 <3
Ok, please let me know if you get them and the medium works!
Will do!!! 🙂 <3
What a great review! Please tell Charlie and Chiggy that we loved watching them be so good while getting their nails done. Think this would be a great product for us to try and am putting it on the list. ♥♥♥
i will tell them!
Might try these- love the idea of having them around the house! When someone settles in my lap and I think it would be good time for a manicure it never fails that the clippers are some place else! I have the pincher type nail clippers with the guide that prevents from cutting too far and feel more secure using with that kind of preventative in place.
yes, i have some in the kitchen, some in my master bath, some next to my bed. “When someone settles in my lap and I think it would be good time for a manicure it never fails that the clippers are some place else!” – YES!! this is the same concept as the guide – the guide being that the hole will only let the tip through.
