12 Things You're Doing That Are Actually Making Your Cat Hate You

If you're wondering why your cat seems to hate you, there are a few things you might be doing wrong. Here are 12 things you're doing that are actually making your cat hate you:

Not respecting their boundaries.

If you're constantly picking them up, petting them when they don't want to be petted, or following them around the house, they're going to start to resent you.

Punishing them for bad behavior.

Cats don't understand punishment in the same way that dogs do. If you punish your cat for bad behavior, they're just going to become afraid of you and avoid you.

Not providing them with a clean litter box.

Cats are very clean creatures, and they hate using a dirty litter box. Make sure to scoop your cat's litter box at least once a day, and completely change the litter once a week.

Not feeding them enough.

If you're not feeding your cat enough food, or if you're feeding them a diet that's low in protein, they're going to be hungry and irritable.

Not giving them enough water.

Cats need to drink plenty of fresh water to stay healthy. Make sure to keep your cat's water bowl clean and filled with fresh water at all times.

Not providing them with enough enrichment.

Make sure to provide your cat with plenty of toys and scratching posts, and give them opportunities to climb and explore.
