Sapphire – Ragdoll of the Week
I got my Ragdoll kitten when I found out I was moving from my home to start a new job in a new city. I knew i wanted a cat (after loosing my 10 year old moggie 2 years ago) but wanted to get one that was easy-going and relaxed and preferably an inside cat. I searched pet section of trade me and found several registered breeders with Ragdoll kittens and after much oohing and aahhing I found her. The only dark nosed kitten in a basket of pink noses. The kitten wasn’t ready to leave her mother until 4 weeks after I had moved into my new home. The breeder drove with her 2 hours south to my brother’s house from her home and I drove 2 hours north to my brother’s from my home and I met this gorgeous wee little white ball of fluff with a coal black nose. 2 years on this seal point mitted Ragdoll cat is a beautiful lady named Sapphire, as soon as I saw her eyes there was no other option.
We bonded quickly and she has lived up to all you read a ragdoll is in there temperament. We have learnt to play fetch together, with a small grey mouse called Fred, she’s ambi=pawrous when playing soccer down the hallway and is at my feet when I study after work.
The most special moments of my day are when I come home from work and she comes running to me crying and wanting that first cuddle. We then settle into a conversation about our day, her what she’s seen out the window and me what when on in the hospital. If she see’s i find a person okay, then she is willing to share the love, cuddles, purrs and her beautiful soft floof.
She is one of the favourite photography subjects for one of my friends as she is so patient and pretty and good in black or white. She would be a great model.
If I go to visit my parents and 2.5 hour drive in the car she comes with me and sleeps all the way and makes herself at home when she gets there.
She has a particular liking for jellymeat with gravy that can be licked off, the sunny spot in the middle of the floor, and at night time she will be found either at my feet or snuggled in on my right hand side. She has shaped my daily routine to suit her. I must acknowledge her first in the morning, cuddle her as soon as I get in the door from work and play with her when ever the mouse or ball is dropped at my feet. I am her servant and I love it.
Since getting Sapphire we have got another Ragdoll in the family, but thats a whole new story.

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
Hi
She is a beauty, I must admit I’m a dark nose lover myself as Ted is a seal coloupoint and his nose is one of his best bits – its that suede feel. Ted plays fetch too with his string mouse. She looks like she knows how to pose for the camera. Ragdolls – They are all born to be film stars. x
Sapphire is simply exquisite! She certainly is a fabulous model… 🙂
