I am often asked for recommendations of Ragdoll breeders. I learned long ago not to recommend breeders! So I let readers do it =).
If you love the breeder that you adopted your Ragdoll cat from, then please post your favorite breeder in the comments section and be sure to include:

How to Know if a Cat Breeder is Reputable: An Interview with Bette Willette
Sharon Shulby of Magnadok Ragdolls shared the following with me:
“In looking for a Ragdoll, please advise people that, first off, Google the cattery and “complaints”. If they have a history of scamming people, keeping their money, not delivering the kitten on the agreed upon date, selling sick kittens, what in the world makes you think they’ll be any better with you? You MUST do due diligence!
Also, ascertain if the parents have been tested for FIV, FeLV and HCM. And the breeder can prove it to the prospective parents. That any breeder who wants to send your kitten home at under 12 weeks old, isn’t doing right by you or the kitten. They get 3 vaccines, at 8, 12, and 16 weeks. I prefer that my breedings are fully vaccinated before they leave here. Also, younger kittens don’t have that time with their parents and littermates to socialize. This is VERY important for the well being of your kitten.
If the parents aren’t registered with FIFe, CFA or TICA, your kitten can’t be registered either. And there’s no guarantee that the kitten is truly a purebred RD.
What I can tell your readers, again, that if they do their homework before buying a RD kitten, there shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck!”
BEWARE! Ragdoll Breeder Scams
Apart from just bad breeders, you have to watch out for scams too – people that pose as Ragdoll breeders or home raised ragdoll kittens, but really are just scam artists. Here are a few times we have encountered them:

I highly recommend Jennifer Schartner of RoyalBluBeautys in Roseville, Michigan, USA. She is a TICA and CFA registered breeder. Her website is https://royalblubeautysragdolls.weebly.com/ On January 6, 2022, my family and I lost our beloved 9-year-old seal lynx mitted Ragdoll named Lovie, to cancer. My 14-year son had a strong bond with her. He is autistic and has anxiety. Holding Lovie always helped him feel better. We have two other Ragdoll cats that were 11 and 10.5 years old. They will allow my son to hold them, but they do not want him to hold them as much as my son needs. We decided to get another cat. We love Ragdoll cats and, of course, wanted to get another one. I was shocked by how much the price has gone up since we adopted Lovie. I considered getting a Persian. I had grown up owning Persian cats. My husband and I had a Persian cat that lived to be 17 years old. I love the personality, temperament, and minimal grooming of the Ragdoll cat, so we decided to adopt another Ragdoll despite the significant increase in cost. We now live a thousand miles away from where we adopted our Ragdoll cats.
Thankfully I found RoyalBluBeautys. Jen checked everything that I was looking for in a good breeder. Jen does genetic and health testing. Her kittens and cats are incredibly well-socialized. She is very passionate about raising the best ragdoll cats. Jen has excellent communication skills and is easy to get in touch with. In my opinion, Jen is an exceptional breeder. I was looking for a social seal lynx boy who liked to be picked up and hugged. The kitten that I adopted from Jen (whose name is Milo) was a beautiful seal lynx boy that is sweet, playful, social and loves to be picked up and kissed. He loves everyone and gets along with my other cats. Since Milo is so much younger than my other two cats, we have recently decided to adopt another kitten from Jen so that Milo will have a buddy. In April, we will be adopting a beautiful male blue mitted lynx named Jupiter.
Forgot to mention, that all of Jen’s pet kittens are fully vaccinated and altered (spayed/neutered) before they go to their new homes when they are 12-13 weeks old.
Has anyone ever heard of MJs Ragdolls in Maine? This is the website: https://www.mjsragdolls.com. I reached out and got on the waitlist. The owner seems really nice, she said there are about 25 other people on the waitlist in front of me. There’s no deposit needed to be on the waitlist which I did find a bit surprising but maybe that’s just a courtesy thing? The price is based on color (but is at least $1,500 though). Their site mentions that they are on TICA but I have been unable to find them on there or on CFA’s site. I also cannot locate any bad reviews of any sort though so I’m unsure if they are just newer to the business? As much as I’d like to support a local business (assuming they are legitimate) I’m growing a little nervous now that I’m looking into what can be “red” flags.
Upon a quick view – she looks to be a legitimate breeder – not a scammer. However, I do not know if she is reputable or not – as I don’t have a way to check that. So you have to do your due diligence. I do not like that she does not post the full names of her breeding cats – like their cattery names. But that’s just a personal preference.
A small checklist when looking for a breeder:
Are they TICA or CFA registered?
Do they show their cats?
Do they DNA test?
Do they keep kittens at least 12 weeks of age?
Do they provide a health guarantee?
Do the kittens come to you already spayed/neutered?
Do you feel comfortable with the communication with the breeder? You want to be able to contact your breeder months or years down the road with questions.

They seem nice enough but I cant tell if it is legitimate cattery or not. They’re asking for 400.00 which doesn’t seem bad but i’ve never owned a ragdoll before so I need some help please!
I can tell from the name they are a scammer. No native English speaker would name their cattery, “Good Ragdoll Cattery”. Does that make sense? It’s an odd name and targeting a search term. And yes, just visited their site and they’re for sure a scam. I will add them to our ever growing Ragdoll Breeder Scams online page.

Has any one head of Appledoll Ragdolls in Connecticut.
They want to ship me a kitten for $500.00 (TICA certified (so they say, but
I can’t find their name in TICA) all inclusive.

That is a scam. The real Appledolls is in Korea. Please see the scam listed here – Ragdoll Breeder Scams. In general, reputable breeders are not going to be selling kittens for anything less than $1500.

When you adopted your kitty: I adopted my seal mink ragdoll (Minka) in June 2021, and couldn’t resist going back two months later for her half-sister (Grace) who is a blue point. They are the absolute sweetest girls. Excellent temperaments, great with all who meet them, healthy, so adaptable and affectionate. Lisa (owner of the cattery) has four cats that she breeds infrequently. She was such a pleasure to work with. She clearly loves her cats immensely and cares about the homes her babies are going to. We spoke for well over an hour on the phone when I was considering adopting Minka. I am not sure how much longer she plans on breeding, but if she continues, I really can’t recommend her enough. We keep in touch to this day!

Has anyone had a good experience with a breeder in California (both Northern and Southern are fine, but preferably Southern) in recent years? I’m looking to adopt, but seeing a ton of mixed reviews for breeders here in SoCal on Yelp/Reddit/etc. 🙁 Right now, I’m looking at Cedar Cottage, 5 Star Rags, Ruby Ridge, CreekCats, and Fujipaws. None of them have a ton of reviews or info online though.

He became instant besties with the other feline family members and even the puppy who’d been adopted a couple of months prior. When you adopted your kitty August 2020
Adoption Story: we adopted our sweet kitten from Holmstead Ragdolls, and I have never loved a pet so much. He is the perfect mix of lazy companion and playful goofball. He is amazing with our kids, and other pets. My kids describe him as the most handsome gentleman. After our sweet Biscuit I could never have another cat from anywhere other than Holmstead Ragdolls. The owner is so nice and was great through the whole process. I can’t recommend them enough!
Looking for a reputable breeder in the New England area, I see the only one with availability on their website is Bayridge Ragdolls in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Looks like their boys and girls come from Europe but they look gorgeous and look legit. Can anyone share any feedback on them? I know there’s a great review from 2017 on Willetterags but they have a year long wait list and I don’t want to wait that long. I’m not planning to breed them, just a pet for my family. Just want to make sure no health issues and so on. Being unable to visit the cattery due to Covid restrictions sucks so any advice would be helpful. Or if anyone can recommend a good one in the New England area and surrounds that would be great. I’m willing to drive up to 5-6 hours out of Boston for a good recommendation.
HappyKatRags is a TICA, CFF, and CFA registered breeder that I highly recommended as I have one of her cats in my cattery. She raises them in home, as family, they are given proper veterinary preventative care, and tons of socialization, the owner is Lisa Simione. She shows her cats in CFA, TICA, and CFF. She is an honest, and ethical breeder and is located in NH which is up your way. I personally feel it is a privilege to work with such a heart centered breeder.
Lottarags Ragdolls in Billerica has gorgeous Ragdolls and is close. IDK about current kitten availability. She helped us connect with two of her cats in 2016 when they needed to be rehomed. Both are beautiful and still going strong.
I highly recommend Upstate Ragdolls in Lauren’s,SC. Beth Parker is the breeder. We adopted 2 mitted seal point Ragdoll kittens from her in August, 2021. All of her cats live in her home & she has a special room for her kittens that is loaded with stimulating toys & cat trees.
Beth was wonderful to work with & patiently & quickly answered all of our questions, pre & post adoption. Our kittens are beautiful & very healthy. I will definitely adopt from her again! Her prices were also less than what most breeders in my state charge.
I just wanted to pass along a cattery I suspect is a scam..Happy Homr Ragdoll Cattery. I was suspicious of the site right away , they do not have queens or kings and no gallery of past litters. Asking price $850.00. I exchanged a few emails, she sent more pics, but then wanted the entire cost of cat plus money to ship cat. I said no, they came back with how about $500 ? I won’t be buying from them.
