Ragdoll Cat YouTube Channel Feature: Bowie the Ragdoll Cat
I recently published a request on our Facebook page, asking if anyone had a Ragdoll cat-focused YouTube channel to please reach out to me. I want to feature different YouTube channels that have Ragdoll cats – so readers can learn about them. Please continue to send me suggestions and names, so that we can continue with these features =)
Ragdoll Cat YouTube Channel Feature: Bowie the Ragdoll Cat
Bowie is a Blue Point Mitted Ragdoll, he lives with me, my wife and two daughters in the Netherlands. Bowie was born in February 2017 and three months later we could pick him up at the Ragdoll cattery “Dollsboefjes” (“boefjes” means: little rascals) where he was raised to a beautiful and very sweet kitten.
My wife and I always had pets as a child, but we had no pets since we were together. Until our daughters were three years old, a skinny kitten of less than one year old mewed at front of our door.
It was a European shorthair cat and looked rather helpless. Of course we adopted her and my three year old twin daughters called her Sjanna. Sjanna crossed the rainbow three years ago.
We started to miss the presence of a cat, so we decided that a pet should come back into our lives. After consultation with our daughters and my wife’s research on the internet, we came to the conclusion that it had to be a cat again, a Ragdoll cat, because they have such a great character, according to my wife. We totally agreed with that.
Ragdolls are really different from the European shorthair cats that are most prevalent here. Unlike Ragdoll Cats European Shorthair Cats can easily survive in a busy city like Amsterdam and just come home for dinner.
It really surprised me how great and special the character is of a Ragdoll cat.
We now have the opportunity to make videos very easily and in good quality with smartphones, so we did, from kitten to cat.
Both the family of my wife and my family consists of real pet lovers and asked me to send videos of Bowie. We sent the videos by Email, WhatsApp and sometimes by Facebook. According to my daughters we should use YouTube, it is easier to share longer videos and the videos are saved in the cloud.
My daughters are frequent YouTube visitors and it was a dream of them to have their own channel. So the channel, Bowie the Ragdoll Cat, was born.
Bowie does so often funny and unexpected things and and we all filming that from time to time with our smartphones. I really enjoy editing videos and was already a hobby of mine (just vacation videos).
We have a lot of fun filming Bowie and he seems to love it too. Every morning he seems to ask me “what are we going to do today” He is very talkative, as you can see in the videos.
I hope that visitors like it as much as we do.

Do you know of a YouTube channel that features Ragdoll cats? Please post a link in the comments so we can contact them to be featured!
Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
I took in a stray 21 years ago that was pregnant, but I didn’t know it.
Low and behold, my beloved Vladimir was born, and he was my darling for 20 years. The baby of a stray, not a ragdoll, but bright blue-eyes, white with Grey lynx striping on his tail, and Grey points…. along with the most unusual, endearing, dog-like behavior.
When Vladie passed, I was absolutely heart broken, and it wouldnt go away. He was my best friend for 20 years, and my baby.
I researched Vladie’s traits, and I found an amazing breed I had never heard of…. Ragdolls.
But, they were pricey. I’ve always loved rescues, but I wanted my best shot at finding at least some of Vladie’s unique traits.
But the cost….should I do it?
Then I found Bowie’s YouTube channel! He was like a young Vladie. Sweet, dog-like, full of love, laid-back, and just amazing.
Bowie is what convinced me to take the ragdoll path, and I cannot thank his parents enough!
I now have Winston, a gorgeous blue-mitted ragdoll, that is sweet, brilliant, affectionate, follows me around like a puppy, plays fetch and talks.
Now, Winston apparently never got the update that Ragdolls are usually mellow and non-predatory. He runs around like a spazz and likes to “hunt” us…. Hiding in waiting and jumping in the air… pouncing at us! (He’ll jump straight up in the air at pat our thigh.) He looks like a little polar bear, with a huge head, so we call it “Polar-bearing” when he hides and pounces on us. My husband doesn’t even like cats, but he adores Winston.
So Bowie, and Bowie’s parents…. thank you. Your videos and love of Bowie are what spurred me to pursue a ragdoll. Valdie will ALWAYS hold a core spot in my heart…. but Winston has “polar-bearded” the hole that was in my heart…..filling it with love, joy and laughter. Thank you Bowie and Bowie parents, you and your blog are truly what did it!
