IMG_1365Can’t tell you how much I love hearing back from giveaway winners!  Thanks, Kate, for reporting back with great photos to boot!  Kate and her kitties won the BONUS Giveaway! Petstages Easy Life Scratch Snuggle & Rest While They Last!

Thank you so much for the Petstages Easy Life Scratch Snuggle & Rest. I had seen them in the pet store, but hadn’t purchased them because there was always a more pressing demand. (For example, testing nearly every wet food in the store until I finally found one that the boys would actually eat.)

IMG_1362When I first got the scratchers, I set them up in the living room and there was immediate interest. Everyone had to come to investigate and they seemed to really enjoy them. Even Ibby, my declawed orange moggie, seemed to be having fun scratching. (He was already declawed when I adopted him. I would not declaw a cat.)  The two Ragdoll brothers, Romeo (blue mitted) and Caesar (cream point), were instantly in love.

I was worried, though, when they seemed to lose interest quickly. I thought about it for a little bit – and realized the problem wasn’t with the scratcher – it was with the location! All the cats want to be where my husband and I are, and we don’t spend much time in the living room – we’re usually hanging out in the bedroom watching TV. So, once I moved the scratchers on the dresser at the foot of the bed, their popularity shot back up again.

IMG_1367So, here are a few picture of Romeo and Caesar enjoying themselves on the Scratch Snuggle & Rest. They generally use them for the snuggling and resting – I think they don’t believe they should be doing any scratching “work” in the bedroom. They have a tall scratching post in the living room that they are very good about using. (Please ignore the messy bedroom in the background…)

As you can see, Caesar works very hard to get himself entirely onto the scratcher. (At 22 pounds, he doesn’t quite fit, but I’m not going to be the one to tell him!) One of his favorite moves is to put his paw out to express his “ownership” of something (or someone) – he’s obviously making it very clear that he considers the scratcher to be ALL his. IMG_1359Romeo is a little smaller (only 18 pounds), ando he fits on the scratcher fairly well. He’s busy posing to show just how very handsome he is and to show off his lovely ruff. (Romeo IS a bit vain.)

The boys definitely love these. They seem to prefer them to the plain rectangular scratchers. I have to say that I prefer them too – since they’re just so cute! Again, thank you so much!

  1. Thanks for sharing this information with all of us, Katie! Caesar & Romeo are two VERY HANDSOME (GORGEOUS) boys! Lurve the pictures! I also love the explanation of the extended paw. (Our Pink Sugar girl does this ALL THE TIME when she’s sitting with us or curled up in her Petstages Scratch, Snuggle & Rest, which we call The Sugar Bowl.) 🙂 <3

  2. What a nice writeup! Your two boys are beautiful. Makes me really sad that Petstages has stopped making this bed and so the ones left are the only ones for now and in the future, so stock up while you can. We have 3 and they love love love them. Even wrote to Petstages and begged them not to discontinue these, but they still are halting production for some strange reason. Maybe if enough of us write to them, they might change their mind? I even asked if they would be able to make some larger for our RD’s, but they didn’t reply except to say that they would be DC’ing this one.

  3. My ragdoll is a super cuddler and I would be sure that he would love this. Please give Gab a chance to try this out and I am sure my other baby Cylide would love to share with him.

  4. On your recommendation, I got this for Annabella. She loves it, seldom scratches in it, but because she’s a petite Ragdoll, she doesn’t fill it up as much as these boys do! However, she does sometimes sprawl around and melt over the edge 😉

    1. I’m glad she likes it! They are very big boys…there are a lot of places that they don’t fit very well! (And they were already this big when I adopted them last year.)
