Petsafe Drinkwell Zen Cat Water Fountain Review by Ragdoll Cat Mooshu’s Mom

Drinkwell Zen Steel FountainI recently posted a question on the Floppycats’ Facebook page seeking advice from other Ragdoll parents in regards to the best way to keep Mooshu from knocking around and dumping his water dish over. By an overwhelming amount the readers all suggested a water fountain. So off I went in search of the ideal fountain. I was skeptical as I didn’t want to hear the motor or deal with a heavy, bulky, awkward shaped container. But I was hopeful there would be something out there to meet my needs.

I reached out to Jenny, telling her I wanted a metal cat water fountain and she suggested The Petsafe Drinkwell Zen Cat Water Fountain. I trust Jenny with all Ragdoll related “drama”. From Moosh’s “poopy butt” as a baby (wet food only fixed that right up!) to spilt water…she once again did not steer me wrong.

A little over a month ago Mooshu and I received the one in the mail to test and submit our review. All I can say is WOW…what a lifesaver…ok…sanity saver at the very least! Here’s the link to the arrival video I posted.

Drinkwell Zen Steel Fountain and MooshuAs you can see, it was easy breezy to set up and get going…literally took me all of 5 minutes! And Moosh had no problems getting used to it. He of course took his time…but in the end…the fountain and I are WINNERS!

The Petsafe Drinkwell Zen Cat Water Fountain is sturdy but not heavy, modern and stylish, easy to set up, use and clean! Oh…and super affordable. You can get a great deal on right now. It’s HALF OFF the regular price. (with free two-day shipping if you have a Prime account.)

We’ve been using The Petsafe Drinkwell Zen Cat Water Fountain for just over a month now and I couldn’t be happier and more comforted just knowing that there is a constant source of fresh running water for the Moosh…water in a bowl that even he can’t knock over! I went away for three days (it holds a gallon of water so I easily, if I had the heart to do so, could have gone away for 4-6 days!) and when i came back home…it was to a knocked over tree…food dish…and Q-Tip jar…but I tell ya’all…the water was in the fountain and the fountain was right side up just like when I left! Such peace of mind!

To clean it out I simply unplugged the cord from the main adapter that stays in the socket, carried it over to the sink, used a sponge and some dish soap…and refilled it with fresh water! That simple! My filter was spotless so I will keep using the one it came with for another two months or so or until I feel I need a new one. You can order replacement filters from Drinkwell’s Amazon site as well.

  1. Great review! Thanks for the information and great video! Mooshu is ADORABLE!

We have a ceramic serenity water fountain that I found on Etsy that our Pink Sugar uses. It’s beautiful and functional! Of course, she also drinks from a glass measuring cup that I keep filled with icy cold water on the dining room table. She’s quirky like that. Some days she likes her water in a glass and others she likes the running stream of water in the fountain. (She used to love to crawl into the bathroom sink and drink from the faucet as a kitten. She’s wayt too big for that now. lol) 🙂

    1. Thanks so much!:-)
That’s super funny! Mooshu used to drink from the sink when he was about 12 pounds smaller too! Now he drinks from a glass i keep on my night table…or his fountain.

      1. When Pink Sugar was a kitten she also tried to drink from my water mug that I keep with me all the time. I learned quickly to take my mug with me and leave it on the kitchen counter (where she couldn’t get it) if I had to go to another room or something. Otherwise, when I would return to my recliner in the living room the straw would be missing from my water mug. Such a little character! lol 🙂

        Big hugs!

        Patti & Pink Sugar 🙂 <3

      2. Straw? Did someone say straw?? Moosh LOVES straws too! I can’t keep my iced latte any where near him…he takes the straws & i find them months later under the couch…stove…fridge!! hahaha!
