Pets Can Play Ultimate Cat Tunnel Product Review
Previously, we have reviewed other Pets Can Play products – including the Bird Catcher Pro and Bird Catcher Pro Ex. Both are cat wand toys and I like them both. However, Pets Can Play is now expanding their pet product line to include cat tunnels.
I really like the Pets Can Play Ultimate Cat Tunnel – we have previously reviewed the SmartyKat Crackle Chute Cat Toy Collapsible Tunnel and the Petmate Jackson Galaxy Base Camp Hub with Solid Tunnel and this one is far superior to those two in both size, design and construction.
It has three access holes and is a larger size in diameter, 13.8″ (35 cm), so more ideal as a cat play tunnel for large breed cats. You can also bend the tunnel at different angles to make a maze with other tunnels or simply make it more interesting for your kitty. The white fabric is also great because it allows more light in. It is easy to store away and has a little bag that you can zip it away into.
I am trying something a wee bit different this year with our reviews, as I want to make sure we address all questions and comments with our reviews. So I posted our arrival video on the blog a few weeks back to get more in depth reader feedback. You can check out the post here.
Based on that post, the following issues were raised and they are also addressed below.
55.1 inches (140cm) x 13.8 inches (35cm) x 13.8 inches (35cm)
2) what is the diameter?
13.8 inches (35cm)
3) do you just buy more of the same to make labyrinths or are there other versions/shapes to use for connections?
Yes, they can purchase an additional tunnel to connect them. No additional accessories are needed. The last 20cm of the tunnel is loose / not held together by the stainless steel wire. There is an elastic cord / cord stopper to overlap and tighten it over another tunnel OR close it off entirely.
4) where is it made (which country)?
The Ultimate Cat Tunnel is manufactured in China (like most cat tunnels) but we have vetted the suppliers of the materials to make sure that they are high quality, durable, safe and non-toxic.
5) how are the entry holes holding up from the biting from giant kitty jaws?!
6) how many times did you get nailed by a cat claw as you walked by, not realizing that a cat was inside but they were indeed in there and stalking your shadow?!
Never – I don’t allow this behavior from my cats with me. They can do it with each other.
7) price? $32.95 at posting
8) how rigid or firm are the bands (the purple parts)?
The internal wire is water resistant stainless steel with wire covers so if the tunnel accidentally got wet the wire will not rust or create rust stains that seep through the lining. The wire covers prevent the wire from piercing through the ends of the tunnel.
They use higher end polyester for the tunnel. The same grade polyester used for outdoor camping tents and is incredibly durable.
Teresa: Would like to see if possible how it makes angles. Do you need two pieces or is that one tunnel bendable? One tunnel is bendable – please see review video below.
Lynn: How easy is it to put away? Easy! Takes less than 30 seconds – please see review video below.
Norette: Did Charlie try it out ? I would like to see how he fits in the tunnel. Yes, please see review video below.
Two additional features that are not advertised or promoted are that the tunnel entries (gray fabric) are reflective similar to bicycle reflectors. When light is shined on that material it will reflect light. It may be attractive to some cats while other cats may ignore it but no other cat tunnel has this feature.
Also, at the top of the entrance of the tunnel and also at the top middle hole of the tunnel are 2 purple loops that allow you to attach / dangle their favorite toys / feathers to entice them to enter the tunnel or play near the tunnel. We would rather the pet owner interact with the pet with wand toys or as you did with the paper underneath / around the tunnel.
When you close one side of the tunnel (to create that safe haven for some cats to hide) the elastic cord is fully lengthened. They knew that having the elastic cord sticking out like that invited cats to play with the dangling cord and some cats may even chew on it. So they added the velcro pouch into the design to hold the loose cord so cats wouldn’t risk chewing on it and/or swallowing some of the cord bits if chewed off (it’s happened to the loose straps on other tunnels so it was quite a safety concern for them).

And here is our final review video:
We asked Pets Can Play to make a $200 product equivalent donation to the non-for-profit organization, Kitty City NM, in exchange for the review of their Ultimate Cat Tunnel. We received the Ultimate Cat Tunnel for review from the manufacturer. Receiving the free product and Pets Can Play’s donation to Kitty City NM did not influence this post.
