PawNosh Cubby Glass Pet Bowl Product Review

IMG_0162PawNosh Cubby Glass Pet Bowl Product Review

I first saw the PawNosh Cubby glass cat bowl on The Conscious Cat.

I instantly fell in love and reached out to PawNosh for a bowl in November 2013.  They kindly declined.  I kindly decided I wouldn’t give up because I can usually tell from a photo whether or not I will like a product…so I reached out again in February 2014…and well, this time they said, YES!  And I am so excited about this glass cat bowl that I wanted to get it on the site, even though we’ve had it just 2 weeks.

It is stunningly gorgeous.  I am just in awe of it’s beauty.  I’ve mostly had it on my counter because it’s so pretty – but the cats have also eaten out of it several times (see final review video to see what I mean).  It has also spent some time in the dishwasher.

But, let me first back up a bit.  The bowl arrives GORGEOUSLY packaged.  Please see the arrival video below to see what I mean – for this reason alone, it is an idea cat lover gift.  It’s absolutely lovely how it comes to you.

PawNosh Cubby BowlIt is a solid hunk of glass.  The Cubby bowl is named after their beautiful kitty, Cubby, who is pictured on the website.

Here are some more great things about this bowl for cats:

  • Made form non-toxic glass
  • Made from post-consumer recycled glass, sourced in California – these include Snapple bottles, jam jars, spaghetti sauce jars, etc that would otherwise be retired to landfill. The glass they use is actually clear. The Aqua color comes from organic minerals (leadfree and non toxic) that are added in the remelting process. Each PawNosh Cubby bowl recycles about six 8 oz glass containers.
  • Made by hand using cast-iron pressing molds
  • Lifetime warranty against breakage – Durable
  • Handmade in the USA.
  • Safe and sustainable solution
  • A serial number is and etched on bottom rim of bowl; every PawNosh bowl includes corresponding certificate of authenticity
  • Ergonomic back handle, so you can easily pick up and handle bowl
  • Glass bowls prevent cat zits
  • It’s heavy – your cat isn’t gonna be able to move this sucker.

I love that PawNosh wants to support US glass makers.

PawNosh Cubby Glass Pet Bowl

  • Total height: 3.125 in.
  • Area available for food or water: 4.8 in.
  • Area available for food or water: 2.125 in.
  • Available cubic volume: 15 fl. oz.
  • Total weight: 3.1 lbs.
  • Designed for use by 1 to 2 cats or 1 dog up to 25 lbs.

When I first posted about the bowl on Facebook – some were concerned about their cats’ whiskers being an issue.  I have never encountered this problem with my cats, but I think you can see in the final review video below that their whiskers have plenty of room.

They do make a larger version called The Cubby Deluxe.  The Cubby Deluxe holds about 3 times the capacity of the Cubby. The Cubby holds about 15 fl oz and the Cubby Deluxe holds about 44 fl oz.

Just received 3 bowls (2 small and 1 large) for food and water dishes for my two ragdolls and absolutely love them! They are beautiful and when I ordered them there was no place to put the Floppy 10 to receive the 10% discount so I emailed the company after placing my order and they quickly refunded me the 10%. I was very impressed and have sent them a nice email thanking them and wishing them well with their company and also wanted to thank you for your review as that was what got me to order in the first place! I bought some cheap, kinda cute bowls from our local Petsmart but returned them once I saw these. Thanks again! Also I just watched the video on the perfect clippers and probably will be ordering them next. Keep up the good work!

    1. YAY! Love it – so glad you love them AND had a great experience with PawNosh. I am collecting testimonials and photos of Floppycats readers that love their bowls, if you want to snap a photo and send a “review”, I can include your info in the post.

OMG! I just received my bowl. I actually dragged my feet ordering it but then decided to. It is so unbelievably gorgeous. The packaging is stunning. Like everyone else, I did not want to open it. They even wrapped the bowl in beautiful tissue paper. It’s truly a work of art and worth every penny!!!! It is much bigger than I thought so now I am going to use it for water. No way will this tip over which is awesome as my two always crash into their water bowl. I found out from the company that they are coming out with two new colors the end of May. They would not divulge what they are. Order one! You will be so happy you did. I think I need to order the big one for the dogs now. That is how amazing these bowls are.

  3. I ordered both sizes and they arrived yesterday.

Once I opened the shipping box though I couldn’t bring myself to open the boxes the bowls came in because the wrapping is SO beautiful! It’s simple, modern and pretty.

Finally last night I opened the smaller one. It’s beautiful and so thoughtfully made.

I have a 30# dog and the small bowl is plenty big enough for her.

I had ordered the larger bowl thinking that it would be the main bowl for both animals and I would put the “small” one in the bathroom. However, the small bowl is quite generous so it will be the main bowl.

I haven’t opened the large bowl yet. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it but in case I give it as a gift, I want to keep the gorgeous gift wrap in-tact.

Funny aside, Prossimo was afraid of the bowl! He kept backing away from it, wouldn’t go within 2 feet, hid from it and was low to the ground while checking it out from a safe distance.

After a while I put in the Robo Fish in (https://www.floppycats.com/have-you-tried-out-robo-fish-with-your-kitty.html). He broke down after a bit to try to catch that pesky fish and when he discovered that the bowl wasn’t going to kill or take him hostage, he relented and decided that the bowl is worthy of becoming a subject of his house!

    1. How stinkin’ funny is that? I am glad you figured out a way to entice him to be curious enough about the bowl. I am also glad you were blown away by how pretty the wrapping is – I agree!! Please let me know what you do do with the big one!

  4. Just ordered one. I’m going to focus on the 10% I saved, not the other 90. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to get this!

    1. ha ha ha – i hear ya! i love ours – so worth it. and it’s just gorgeous too!

    2. @Alice, you have cracking up!

This is #1 on my list of Thing I Must Have Thanks To Jenny @FloppyCats!

  5. I do love the bowl. It is beautiful and very heavy which my cat Rosie loves. I feed her out of the bowl. I may get another one for her water bowl. it is really a handy item. So nice to have joined your blog. Carol

    1. super – glad to hear it! i am glad you’re here! thanks for the feedback on the bowl.

  6. I got one! They are beautiful and way too heavy to tip over unless you have an elephant as a pet. Let’s get real here. We all just bought $50 cat bowls and are now blogging about it? On the other hand we all love our Ragdolls!

    1. Hi Carol,

Do you love it? It makes me happy. I love it. I think $50 is OK given that it will last for the rest of my life and people definitely blog about things that I find much more insignificant.

      Thanks for sharing!
      Jenny

  7. If I ever declare bankruptcy and I’m asked why I will simply answer, “Jenny from FloppyCats.com, that’s why!”

There are so many things about this that my hippie heart loves plus is seems so thoughtfully put together at every step.

I’m hoping to get it to replace the ceramic water dish that Yoda & Prossimo use – hopefully it’s not too small for Yoda but she doesn’t drink much water so I hope it works because it’s so purrty and it would look so cute in my house!

On another note Jenny, have you ever investigated Calmoseptine for feline acne. I didn’t realize it at the time but I fed some low quality Omega-3 to Prossimo which caused a nasty, 4-month long ordeal with feline acne that would not clear up. I used Calmoseptine and it was gone SO fast.

Oh, an a second note Jenny, do you brush your cats everyday? The coats always have that just-left-the-salon look!

    1. HA HA HA – someone else told me the same thing – that their husband was going to kill me.

“There are so many things about this that my hippie heart loves plus is seems so thoughtfully put together at every step.” – love the way you write, and also totally agree!!

No, it won’t be too small for Yoda – of course, you could always order the bigger one – the Cubby Deluxe.

No, I have not used Calmoseptine for acne – would you mind writing about your experience? I would love to post about it on the blog!

No, I don’t brush Charlie and Trigg at all. I would, but they hate it.

  8. OMG! OMG! OMG! Super GORGEOUS! This bowl is so beautiful that I WANT TO EAT OUT OF IT!!!! 🙂

It’s on my Wish List. Wow! So pretty and functional and the company is awesome being so environmentally responsible and making the product in the good ol’ USA! And a 10% discount on top of all of that! Saving up my allowance for this one!

Not to mention that the blue color will match Pink Sugar’s eyes! When I told her that, she blinked at me as if to say “Mommy. Iz needz dis purdy bolz for my nomz! Iz a fashuneastuh kitteh!” I told her, “I agree, Sugar Bug! I agree!”

Thanks for another AWESOME REVIEW! Now I have to go wipe up the drool off my keyboard….

    Big hugs!

    Patti & Pink Sugar 🙂 <3

  9. Do they have green ones because I do not see that color on the site??? You show it in green as well as blue…

    1. No, they only have one color and we were only sent one bowl – it’s just the different light making it look blue in some light and greenie in the others.

      1. Janet Knowlton says:

If you don’t hear from me for awhile it is because hubby had me committed for spending $110 on 2 cat bowls!!!!

        1. LMAO!! Oh man, that’s funny. Ha ha ha – you will love them!

  10. OMG I LOVE these bowls! I wish they were microwaveable but big deal too beautiful not to get one! How weird we get so excited about bowls! ordering right now!

    1. yes, never thought i would be so crazy about a bowl.

  11. Really nice bowl – Mamma is drooling over it just like you Jenny! Seems like superb quality and love that they are recycling all that glass while conserving energy. Great company and am putting this on our wish list!

    1. yes, i really have enjoyed interacting with them as a company too! which always says a lot too.

  12. Lisa Rogers says:

I love this bowl. It is beautiful. I was wondering if it would be easy for ragdolls to tip over as mine has a tendency to play with his water bowl.

    Thanks LIsa Rogers
