When I interviewed Dr. Jean Hofve about Geriatric Cats, she mentioned that she thought all geriatric cats should be on 4 supplements for cats: an omega 3, a probiotic, a digestive enzyme and an antioxidant.
I asked her which ones she liked, brand wise…and she mentioned these for the probiotic, digestive enzyme and antioxidant:
- Only Natural Pet Whole Food Antioxidant Blend
- Only Natural Pet Vital Digest
- Only Natural Pet Probiotic Blend
So I reached out to Only Natural Pet to see if they could send us some to try out – and they did! Here is our arrival video:
We received the Only Natural Pet Probiotic Blend capsules.
As you probably know, probiotics help the health and balance of an intestinal tract – supplying the necessary good bacteria for good digestion and bowel health. While I have given Charlie human probiotics, ideally, I have learned it is best to give your cat or dog probiotic blends that are designed for pets because they have the right multi-strain combination of bio-available microorganisms in a prebiotic base of fructooligosaccharide (FOS) – such as Only Natural Pet’s.
Pet Probiotics can help with:
- occasional diarrhea
- foul smelling stools
If your cat or dog is on a regime of antibiotics or any other prescription drugs that deplete intestinal microflora, then probiotics are absolutely essential and your vet should recommend them.
Only Natural Pet Probiotic Blend does not need to be refrigerated and is made in a FDA approved facility using human-grade ingredients.

As I mention in our product review video below, the probiotics from Only Natural Pet were easy to use (just open up the capsule and sprinkle on the food for us). I did not have to pill them and the pills are much too big to pill anyway. The only problem we had was if I gave the probiotic to Charlie right after eating dry food – he would puke up the food. So I had to be conscious about digestion before I gave him wet food with the probiotic mixed in. Also, Chiggy can get diarrhea if he has probiotics regularly. He doesn’t really need help with this gut like Charlie does. He has great poops – Charlie, not so much – his are harder and drier. So I will probably only continue to give Charlie the probiotics.
