For those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I love to coupon. Well, my favorite place to work the deals is at CVS. Last April 2010, I was at the register at CVS and a cashier there who I have become close to goes, “Hey Jenny, do you like cats?”
I thought it was a joke – figured one of my family members had told her about Floppycats.com! I snickered back at her and she goes, “Well, do you?” And I go, “Oh yeah, I thought you were joking because I have a website all about cats!”
She replied, “Well, there’s this cat on the side of the building. He’s been there all day when I have gone out there to take breaks.” So I ventured out there and sure enough, there was Mr. O scared out of his mind – huddled in the corner.
Although Jill, the CVS cashier, said he was nice, I have never made it a habit of picking up cats I didn’t know – especially scared ones on the side of a building. I told her that if she could get him into my car, I’d take him to my vet.
Sure enough, she got him in the car without a second thought and Oliver rode with me to the vet – he sat on the floor of the passenger side.
Long story short – Oliver stayed with me for a little over 2 weeks. Since the vet didn’t know if he had ringworm, he had to stay in my bathroom, and Charlie and Trigg went to live with my mom until Oliver found a home.
My boyfriend’s a teacher, so I made YouTube videos, plastered Oliver all over my Facebook wall and 2 weeks later (after my boyfriend had showed the videos to his math class – word had spread through school about this cat that Bill had at home) and I got a phone call from a family interested in possibly adopting him.
They came a few days later and adopted him! I knew he liked them, the second we sat down together. I visited him yesterday for the first time since they adopted him. Although I have kept in touch with his mom through texting, Facebook, phone calls and more, I hadn’t seen Mr. O in over 1 year!
He was so happy and healthy. I loved it. More over, he needed a family and got one! I brought him some Neko Flies as a present and he really enjoyed them. He even hauled the Kittenator up the stairs like Charlie does!
