Necoichi Cat Cozy Scratcher Bowl Product Review

Necoichi Cat Cozy Scratcher Bowl Product Review P1010254

Well, well, well has this been one of the most rewarding products to review.

A reader reached out to me about 6 weeks ago, asking me if I had ever heard of or reviewed a product from “Necoichi“.  I had not heard of it (so therefore hadn’t reviewed one of their products), so I clicked on through to their website.  Here’s what that reader had written:

Have you ever reviewed products from this company? https://www.necoichi.com

My 9-year-old Ragdoll likes their raised water bowls as one of her water options. (She also loves our large PawNosh bowl which I keep on the sink island countertop in my kitchen.) She prefers eating kibble from a shallow oval bowl, though, because it leaves more room for her broad face and whiskers. I suggested to the company that they consider making a raised oval bowl. She clearly likes the extra elevation of the bowls.

We are also thinking about trying some of their other products. Their designs are very pretty to look at and the quality of the bowls and shipping boxes is very nice.
When the company responded to my inquiry for a sample to review – I found out that they are based in Japan, but have offices in Nevada.  The name, “Necoichi” means something to the effect of “cat first”.  In other words, they strive to make products that are for a cat – that a cat would like and make the cat first.
After looking through the products on their website, I specifically requested their corrugated cardboard cat bowl because I knew Chiggy would love it – and man, was I right!
Necoichi Cat Cozy Scratcher Bowl Product Review P1010261
The Necoichi Cat Scratcher bed is a corrugated cardboard cat scratcher bed that is shaped like a round bowl.  The inside is an insert that can be reversed and used on the other side and also can be replaced after it has been scratched to the point of needing replacement.  It molds into a concave bowl for a kitty to scratch on, curl up on and take a nap.

I love this thing and so do the cats.

  • It’s a place to clean
  • It’s a place to sleep
  • It’s a place to scratch
  • It’s a place to curl up
  • It’s a place to sleep
  • It’s a place to release emotion

The Necoichi Cat Scratcher bed is all of those for us.

All scratchers help to keep a cat’s claws strong and in good health.  Scratching is a VERY important habit for cats because it helps strengthen their muscles as well as helps them release emotion.  So having a lot of scratching options in your home is important – and this one is a great one because it doubles as a bed.

We have previously reviewed the Petstages Easy Scratch Snuggle and Rest – similar in the concept of a corrugated cardboard cat scratcher bowl bed – but this one has a stylish modern design to look like it’s made out of bamboo – however, it’s entirely made of paper/cardboard.

It measures 17 x 17 x 4.7 inches.

The inside features a replaceable scratching pad that is dense and reversible for extra longevity – yay!  We discuss all of this in our review video below.

The Necoichi Cat Scratcher bed currently comes in two designs – one with a cat face and one without – we have linked to both of them below.  We got the one with the cat face – which you will also see in the photos and videos below.

As soon as we posted our unboxing video for this Necoichi bed, readers who had the Petstages bed ordered the Necoichi one…and started posting photos of their kitties in the beds on Facebook.  I have included those below – it is one of the reasons this review has been so fun…I feel like I have been reviewing it with the readers.

My Aunt also got one for her cat, Prince William – and she said he won’t get off of it =).

Our Gussie loves both of these. She is WAY too big for the PetStages, but still sleeps in it as if she were a kitten. She sleeps in it everyday curled in a tight ball. We got the slightly larger , Necoichi scratcher also, and she takes turns between them. We have to get everything-Gussie in duplicate for our weekender at the lake. Yes, she is spoiled, it she spoils us back.

  2. SUPER DUPER PAWESOME final product review video, pics and post, Jenny! LURVED the final video intro with Charlie! So cute!!!! 🙂 <3

Most awesome circular scratcher thingy ever in da house!!!! WOW! So happy to hear how much your boys LURVE this thing!!!! Definitely want one of these for Miss PSB to replace her Petstages Scratch-N-Lounge (aka "The Sugar Bowl") thingy, as it's not as sturdy as it once was so she won't climb into to curl up and sleep anymore…she still uses it to scratch and stretch but that's all. Hoping to get her one for Christmas! And…if it's Floppycats.com-approved then that's good enough for me! 🙂 <3

I really LURVE the look of this Necoichi scratcher! You did a great job on this review and I am so happy you are so excited about this product!!! And Charlie & Chiggy obviously are sooooo enthralled with it…the look on their little choochy schmoochy faces says it all!!!

Big hugs & lots of love!!!

    Patti & Miss Pink Sugarbelle 🙂 <3

P.S. Hey! I want to eat Charlie's adorable face, too!!! lol 🙂 <3

    1. oh, good point about petstages – the base does deteriorate over time and the way this one is, it won’t…i hope you can get it for her for christmas – it’s a hit here, for sure!

Thanks! Yes, we got it a while back,, but ours doesn’t have the cute kitty face on it. Just plain but it sure has held up well. Have two of them! Love that you can refill them and the outside is still good and sturdy unlike the Petstages one that deteriorates. That said, they still loved the Petstages one, it’s just not as well built but sleeps just as good! ♥♥♥

        1. if i was buying one, i wouldn’t pay extra for the kitty face…so good on you. glad they are enjoying the beds and still the petstages one.
