Ms. Mia Meow – Ragdoll of the Week
Meet my Beautiful Ms. Mia Meow!
Aka- my Mimi, MaMia, Princess, Diva, Angel Face and Angel Pants.
Lol I think that’s all.
One day I had an urge to look up cats and research different breeds. I have had Dachshunds for the last 23 years and really missed having a cat. My heart was very persistent on finding a gentle breed that would be good around my Grandkids and tolerant of my dachshunds. I was researching breeds and as soon as I saw the Ragdoll I knew that was it. I was hoping that once I looked more into this breed that their personality would be a match for what I was looking for. Everything I read about Ragdolls sounded perfect to me. I was in love after watching videos and reading owner’s stories. I had to have one I knew my best bet was to get a kitten because my dachshunds had never been around cats. I never even consulted my husband because I knew he would say no. My Birthday was about 3 months away and this was going to be my birthday present to myself. I found a breeder near my home which was about 2 hours away. I looked on their web page and read all the reviews. I then looked at kittens for sale and there was a litter just born and I immediately emailed about a girl kitten. They emailed me back and I put my deposit down, I had to wait 12 weeks until January 10th 2015, that was 7 days after my birthday and it was perfect timing. I was freaking out how I was going to tell my husband that I made this decision without talking to him, which was way out of my character. I was just really happy and would cross that bridge closer to January. This was something I wanted with all of my heart and I just did it. I had no idea why I had an urge that day but after I got my sweet Mia I found out. I told my adult girls that I was going to tell my husband that they put the deposit on Mia for my birthday and they went right along with it. So needless to say he was not happy and I promised that if the dogs weren’t happy and if it caused problems that I would make other arrangements… lol another lie.
My Daughters and I picked up my sweet Ragdoll kitten on January 10th 2016 and was in love with her at first sight, she is a Seal Bi/Color one Mitten Baby. She was a ball of white fluff with light yellow markings and beautiful ice blue eyes. I was so proud and scared at the same time on the way home, what if my dogs did not like her. I had a bedroom setup for her with everything she needed, and away from my dachshunds. We put her in the room and played with her and loved on her with my two dogs barking and scratching on the door the whole time. To make a long story short my boy dachshund Hagen was acting very aggressive towards her over the next few weeks. I could not let her out of her safe room unless we were holding her. He was even aggressive while we were holding her. I was so upset that this might not work out. I love my dogs and I loved her and my heart was very sad and I did not know what to do. I took Mia to work with me every day but when I returned home we had to visit her in her room. My world crashed 19 days after getting her, my male dachshund had 2 disk that erupted, one in his neck and one in his back. After hours of consultation with a surgeon we were advised to put him down. My heart was completely broken and I could not imagine a day without my Hagen in it. Lily and Hagen were litter mates that we purchased together from a Pet Store (First and last time ever) after purchasing them I looked up the information on their papers to see where they were from. I loved them so much and just wanted to see what the mom and dad looked like. After a lot of research, unfortunately I found they were from a puppy mill with tons of complaints on the owner. I also found out that their parents were brother and sister. We knew at that time that there might be some health issues but never would have guess how bad.
After Hagen past away my female dachshund was not doing very well at all, she was not eating and was whining all the time looking for Hagen. I was always crying so not any help to her. One day we brought Mia out of her safe room as we called it and let her have the run of the house because Lily never acted aggressive towards her, she only acted scared. I was tired of Mia being in one room by herself so I held Lily and my husband got Mia. When he brought her into the Lanai and put her down, she immediately went crazy. She looked like a Ninja kitten. She was running so fast, all you could see was a white flash. Lily was so fascinated by her and just spent hours looking for her. I noticed everyone’s mood lighten and the gloom starting to lift. She amused us so much that you couldn’t help but be in a good mood. This Kitten took our broken heart and mended it. We love her so much.
Now that you know the background of Mia let me tell you about her. She follows me and my husband everywhere we go in the house, she rides in the stroller with Lily, She loves car rides, and she is very gentle with the grandbabies. She gives me kisses every day, she loves to get brushed out 3 or 4 times a day. She makes us laugh all the time. Mia is seriously the coolest cat I have ever known. She picks her own place to eat every day, she has some serious bouts of energy that scares Lily lol. She is the Princess of the house. Now she lives with Lily and 2 other Male cats that adopted us. She is loved by all and runs the house. Mia & Lily are besties.
The only one trait that she didn’t get that Ragdolls are supposed to have is going limp like a Ragdoll.
She definitely does not go limp when you pick her up and the only way she is ok being carried is cradled like a real baby.
That is my Ms. Mia Meow!
I will always have a Ragdoll in my life as long as my age permits!
I am so in love with this Breed!

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
What a beautiful story about your darling “Mia Meow” aka Angel Pants (*giggle*). I really loved the photo of you kissing her face, she looks so blissfully happy and that made me feel happy too!!! I can see that you two really needed each other and I sensed the special bond you have.
When I was a child we had two long-haired miniature dachshunds (also brother & sister) called “Sugar & Spice”. So, I know first-hand the heartache their back issues can bring. And once they develop these issues, they don’t really get better despite the best of treatment. Your beautiful “Lily” reminded me of my own darling girl “Sugar” and I’m so glad she and “Miss Mia” have become besties after Hagen’s passing. The photo of the two of them looking out the window was so precious!!!
I loved your story so much…
Best Wishes to you and your beautiful family
