I was looking for a feline companion for a while before coming across the Ragdoll Breed. I had found out about the breed initially through Instagram, while searching for a cat that I would be spending the next 10-20 years with. After learning more and more about Ragdolls, I quickly fell in love with the temperament and characteristics of the breed. The playful, docile, affectionate nature, and their soft long silky coats in so many different patterns and colors. I was so ecstatic about having a cat to take care of, love and have a part of our family.
After months of searching for reputable breeders in my area, and waiting on litters and contacting dozens of breeders, I found https://www.ivyroseragdolls.com/ who is a verified breeder with TICA.
Jayne Harman was an absolute pleasure to work with and gave us tons of information about the breed, and what specifically we would be getting, and was always open to phone calls and texts whenever I had any questions and she really made me feel comfortable with purchasing a kitten from her. She is based in Tennessee but hand delivers them by car up to Long Island and other regions where you would meet her. She is an awesome woman and breeds amazing quality Ragdoll cats! As soon as I saw my kitten on her page, it was love at first sight, no doubt about it! It might have been the mitts that sealed the deal for me, and the absolutely cute face he had staring into the camera. I just knew he had to be mine, but unfortunately at the time, he was on hold, and my heart was literally broken. I still messaged her about my kitten regardless of his hold status, and she had actually had the kitten on hold for herself! But upon speaking to me and exchanging emails, she agreed that it was “fate” that this kitten had to be mine, and I was beyond ecstatic. She was very informative and let me know everything I needed to know about the breed, and this particular kitten. She ended up driving up to Pennsylvania for a cat show and that is where I first met Mochi.
Our kitten’s name is Mochi who is currently 3 months old! Born December 30th, 2018. Mochi is a Blue Lynx Mitted Ragdoll, and I was constantly brainstorming ideas for cute names that would fit my precious boy. I was adamant on not naming him until I met him, because I think it would be easier to name him after I got a chance to connect with him. Mochi is a sweet, soft, Japanese dessert made of rice and is usually filled with sweet red bean or other sweet fillings, and comes in many flavors. It is one of my favorite desserts! When I saw him, he reminded me of Mochi. Sweet, soft, light and cute! I just knew it was the perfect name for him.
We have been following Floppycats for a couple months after finding out about the Ragdoll breed, and had purchased many things that Jenny had reviewed, and Mochi loves them all! Especially his Necoichi Cat Scratcher Bowl, and Ripple Rug. He could spend hours in his Ripple Rug with his favorite mice or fish with feathers that I throw in there. Playing fetch is also another one of Mochi’s favorite activities. I still cannot believe he plays fetch! He really lives up to the puppy-cat stereotype! He is so quirky and I am so amazed by his funny personality every single day. If Mochi is not going crazy in the Ripple Rug, playing hunt with our fishing pole, he is on my lap being my own personal heater while I am on the computer, (like I am right now) or cozying up inside the lowest level of his cat tree (he is still a little scared of heights, funny right?). If he’s not on my lap, he would be on the computer chair right next to me! It feels funny when hes not there! He will go anywhere I go like a little shadow.
He just loves being cuddled, played with and brushed. He is an absolutely amazing boy and we are so in love with his beautiful eyes and face. He is always playfully pawing at you to play with him and give him attention and I absolutely LOVE IT! Mochi still has to get the grooming part down a little but mommy always helps! Mochi actually has another surprise coming, and he doesn’t know it yet, but a sister is on her way by the end of this month! My boyfriend and I started thinking that our precious boy would benefit SO greatly from another feline companion and we just want the best for him and our soon to be daughter coming!
We just started an Instagram for Mochi – be sure to follow to keep up with him and his soon to be sister!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful kitten Mochi with us! I too am a Ragdoll lover! Our boy is a Seal/Bi-Color who is 9 years old. We adopted him from a wonderful breeder when he was 6, just neutered and needing a furever home. Thanks to Jenny and Floppycats, we felt that Ragdoll was the breed for us – 3 years later, and we are so in love with our kitty! He has added such joy to our lives. Your Mochi will bring you affection and many laughs and joy in the coming years.

Well, you had me at “Mochi”. I didn’t even know what it meant, but it sounded adorable. He is the sweetest looking lil guy. I am happy you are getting him a sister while he is still a little fellow. That way they can grow up together and bond. He is a gorgeous lil fellow. Wish you decades of love and cuddles and purrs and hisses.
Mochi is a sweet sticky rice dessert and one of my favorites! Thank you so much for your kind words. While we didn’t get him a sister, he now has a happy little brother and they get along pawsomely!
