Latte – Ragdoll of the Week
When I found myself alone on the next phase of my life’s journey, being able to do what I wanted without anyone else’s opinion I wanted to finally get a Ragdoll cat!
I knew I wanted also rescue a cat. I never thought I would find this beautiful “old“ lady. With just three clicks of the mouse I had found the cat love of my life.
Latte was being fostered for a few years by a wonderful family in Oxnard California. She was an emergency rescue at that time because her owner was going into hospice care.
Latte’s original given name was Lottie, but her foster family has taking to calling her McGruffins as her voice is a bit of a gruff little bark… when I contacted her foster owner, I expressed that I was looking for an older cat, and with the perfect seal point markings.
Latte was just that! I arranged to go see her about two days later, and her foster owner had her all packed up and ready to go! I had not even said “I will take her!!”
But something in my voice was saying it even though I did not hear it. And that was the best case of not listening to myself ever. I drove her back to San Pedro California along the coast, past the charred hills of Malibu after the fires of 2018, she talked most of the way … lots to say for sure! I hope it was “thank you for saving me from those other mean cats, and I am so happy to meet you, I will love you to the end of my days!
We arrived home to my high-rise apartment overlooking the water, worries of her jumping were soon put to rest. She loves the fresh air and the sounds of the shipping port.
Being an older cat she was a bit set in her ways eating and sleeping most of the time. I did not spend a lot on toys or beds as she was not interested, she does not sleep on the furniture nor the bed, until recently! Total success with that new training, you can teach an old cat new tricks.
She wakes me gently with a little morning song, and is so happy now that I work from home due to the events of 2020, I am not sure what she would do if I was gone more than a few hours !
After listening to the interview Jenny did with the vet talking about wet vs dry food I made the switch to all wet and WOW what a difference !!! It’s like I have a younger cat with older cat manners!!
We play and talk and run around the apartment, she is the joy of my day and such a camera hound!
She has lost one pound and the vet is just as happy as Latte is, she is a lean 11.9 now!
I am so happy I found the Floppycats site and have learned so much, with the Yeowww! Banana being the second-best thing to the wet food only! Thank you, Jenny, for all your information and smiles and love you give to your cats, and those of your family, these cats are just a beautiful breed!

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
Latte is beautiful!
What brand of wet food do you get? Mine are so picky & eat the dry up instead- I’m thinking I need to take away the dry food completely?
What a wonderful story! You are a great story teller as well! I was right there-riding in the car with y’all past Malibu! She is beautiful and your apt looks amazing!
What a lucky pair you found each other!
What a sweetie! Keep her close and hugs to you both!
Nancy
Thank you Nancy ! They are such a sweet breed
