Currently at the Global Pet Expo 2011, Sleepypod is unveiling their newest cat carrier, the Sleepypod Atom!  Of course, you have seen our coverage of Sleepypod’s other great pet carriers for cats, the Sleepypod and the Sleepypod Air – an airline pet carrier.

As a carrier, the Atom fits comfortably below a wide range of airline seats and seatbelt straps on two sides transform Sleepypod Atom into a safe car seat.

Like the Air, it has that secure and durable mesh panel positioned on three sides for better ventilation, Ultra Plush bedding that is
removable for easy cleaning, and top and side entries for easy access.

Like the Air, the Sleepypod Atom is designed to fold flat for easy storage.  It has an interior collar clip, large front zipper pocket plus two smaller end pockets for essential pet items, adjustable shoulder straps with comfort padding, a padded carry handle, and ergonomic zipper pulls are additional features.

Manufacturer suggested retail price: $99.99 – it will be available in mid-summer 2011 for consumer purchases.

Specifications
• Carrier dimensions: 17 (long) x 8 (wide) x 10.5 (tall) inches
• Folded dimensions: 17 (long) x 10.5 (wide) x 2.5 (tall)
• Carrier weight: 3.25 pounds
• Recommended maximum cat weight: 12 pounds

Although, I have not seen the Atom, based on the recommended max. cat weight of 12 lbs., it would be too small for Trigg and Charlie – but Rags, when he was alive, hovered between 11-13 lbs, so it would have fit him.  Therefore, it could work for a Ragdoll cat, depending on it’s size.  Of course, I know there are other readers that don’t have Ragdolls, so I wanted to introduce it for you too!

  1. Do you think the sleepypod atom is big enough for ragdolls? I am going back and forth sleepypod atom and sleepypod air. I want to buy 2, one for each of my cats, so if i went with the sleepypod air it would be a 100 euros expensivier when buying both (50 euros more than the sleepypod atom per each), so if the atom would fit my cats, i surely wold go with it.
    Any imput will be appreciated
