Introducing the Modkat Open Tray Litter Box – Unboxing Video!

Share this post:

Recently, I interviewed a few readers about their Floppycats experience – and one Floppycatter, Teresa, mentioned that she had this new Modkat Open Tray Litter Box and how much she liked it for her kitty, Illaria.

I had not heard of it – but was familiar with Modkat – a company that makes modern-looking functional cat products.  However, I have never asked to review anything they make because it all seems to be too small for Ragdolls.  Teresa said this litter tray was not too small and it would be worth checking out.

Although my cats aren’t high-peeing cats and therefore don’t need a high-sided litter box, I do prefer high-sided litterboxes because they help to contain litter scatter.

I am excited to see how these go – they have a very modern/sleek look, and I already like how space saving they are compared to the Petfusion Betterboxes we had in my Master Bath.

  1. Wonderful product arrival post & video, Jenny! A BIG THANK YOU to Sweet Teresa for suggesting this product!!! She always knows about the coolest schtuff!!! This litterbox looks amazing. Really eager for your final product review info on this one!! 🙂 <3

Big kudos to you, Jenny, for figuring out how to get that bend out of the side borders that attach!!! Chiggy was so cute laying in the litterbox like it was his new fave place to chill out!!! lol 🙂 <3

Really curious about the liner functionality on this product, too! How will it hold up to stains and odors and how often does it have to be cleaned. I'm assuming you would need to take it outside to clean it really well due to its size. Wondering if I'd be able to clean it off really well in the shower (since I apartment dwell) once scraping off all the bits and pieces of dried litter, etc…, that might stick to it. And if it's non-stick then I'm wondering how they did that without using any toxic application for the non-stick function, etc…

Big hugs & lots of love!!!

    1. hi patti, thanks for the questions – so far, i have had the litter deep enough that there has been no contact with the litter and the liner thing. i am assuming one could easily clean it off in the shower. it’s definitely not that big =)
