Introducing Litter Robot Connect! Get Turd Alerts on Your Phone!

Share this post:

That’s right, you can now get push notifications on your phone, letting you know that your cat has taken a dump – thanks to the Litter-Robot Connect!

As many of you already know, I love our Litter-Robot Open Air and many readers do too. It’s an automatic litter box with a patented sifting process that automatically separates pee and poop from the litter and deposits them into a waste drawer for easy disposal. The Connect makes these self-cleaning beast WiFi-enabled so you can remotely monitor and control one Open Air or multiple units. It’s currently compatible with Apple mobile devices with iOS 9.0 or greater. Android coming soon.

Readers on our YouTube channel have already commented about how excited they are about this WiFi enabled version – because some folks have the Litter-Robot in a room they don’t go in frequently – and now they will be told when it’s time to go empty the waste drawer, for example.

There’s good news if you already have an Open Air!

We already have a Litter-Robot Open Air because of our product review, so we were sent the upgrade kit to upgrade our unit to the Connect model – you also have the option of getting a completely new base (where someone has already installed the upgrade kit we got).

Unboxing Video of LR III Connect Upgrade Kit

I “hired” my sister’s fiance, Kirk, a mechanical engineer to help me install the upgrade kit, so that I could film while he made the changes.  Bonus!  He’s from Northern Ireland – so you’re welcome for the accent ahead of time.

Buy the Litter Robot Connect

Litter-Robot III Unit with Connect – $499
(SKU: LR3S-1000)

This is the full connect-enabled unit, generally for new customers. Externally, it looks the same as the Litter-Robot III Open Air. The difference is just the hardware within allows connecting to a WiFi network as well as the Litter-Robot Connect App.

Options for Existing Litter-Robot Open Airs

LR III Connect Base Upgrade – $349

The simplest way of upgrading to the connect model for existing Litter-Robot III customers. This is a complete connect-enabled replacement base for your Open Air. One simply swaps the existing globe and bonnet on to the new base and is ready-to-go with connect functionality.

The kit includes a new Main Circuit Board, a WiFi board, an adapter for the wiring harness, and a new serial number sticker with a QR code that works with the smartphone app.

Just lurve his accent so much, too! Could listen to him talk forever! 🙂 <3

    1. i know, i don’t even know where “turd alerts” came from – just came out. yes, it’s most fun to hear his accent after he has spoken to his parents on sunday – it intensifies (because they are in northern ireland still).

i know, those folks at LR always impress me.

  2. omg … turd alert!! that is so funny! for the serious cat slave! i can see where it’s practical too though like if you needed to know for a medical reason, something like that. it’s still funny as hell to me though. hanging out with friends or in a meeting at work and you get an alert.. “everything ok?” your co worker asks. “oh yeah”, i say, “my cat just took a dump”… baaahahahahah!! love it.

  3. Can you imagine what the engineers on the app team were thinking of this idea?
“So, you’re an engineer – any special projects?”
“Yep – working on an app”
“Cool! So what is the app for?”
“Well, it, it, it … Well – it notifies the owner when your Cat does the Poo Poo dance”

I had to share this one with my Cat pals
    Thanks Jenny
