Interview with The Man Behind Countryman’s Pet Feeders Etsy Shop
I am a middle aged gentleman who loves animals. I have a full time job that I enjoy but this is my passion. I love working with wood and creating a product that is beautiful as well as functional.
Every time I sell a pet feeder I am rewarded by knowing another animal lover such as myself is taking the time and resources to ensure she or he has a happy and healthy pet.
I hope I will be able to keep on with this project and see where it takes me. If you would like a custom feeder just give me a holler!!
I’m not too comfortable in talking about myself. I hope this will give you an idea of the man behind the product.

How did you get interested in cats? How old were you when you had your first kitty?
We’ve always had cats growing up. Now my wife and I have four cats that own us, Brownie, Baby, Gilligan and Ginger.
Please describe your creative process.
I just thinking maybe animals would like to eat their food elevated, not at a dining room table but their own special dish. I checked the internet to see what was involved in it. I like to put my own special twist on these feeders. I hope I’ve accomplished that.
How did you discover Etsy? Did you consider other ways to sell your products?
My wife has a jewelry shop on Etsy.
I have thought about selling my feeders at flea markets or consignment shops. I have looked into it but am trying Etsy first.
Have you been successful at selling your products on Etsy? Have you always been successful, or did you end up getting a lot more traffic after being featured on a specific blog.
I feel as if I am successful so far. I’ve only had my shop open for a short time now. I have not been featured on a blog yet.
Are you a one man show?
Yes, I do all the work myself and enjoy it very much.
Do your customers ever give you new ideas for products?
No but I would appreciate any input.
Have you thought of featuring a Ragdoll cat is some way? (Had to ask.)
I don’t or haven’t so far featured any type of pet. My products are painted solid or stained. No decorative painting as of this point in time.
Do you have a blog?
Do you do custom ordering? Can someone return it if they don’t care for it?
I have done custom work. It’s very rewarding for me. I keep in touch with my custom order customer in every step of the process with photos and convos insuring they would love it and there would be no need for a return item.
Can you share a story with us behind any of your products that you especially enjoyed working on? Maybe because of the story behind the kitty?
My first pet feeder was made for our cat Brownie. She is getting on in age and has trouble eating at times. An elevated feeder allows her to sit up and eat in comfort. I thought why don’t I do this for others? I know there are a lot of pet lovers out there just like me.
