How do you cut your cat’s nails? Here is a video that shows how I do it with my cats.

I prefer using little cat nail clippers like the JW Pet Company GripSoft Cat Nail Clipper which sells for $3.99 on Amazon.

Here is a great article that lies out how to cut cat claws – Clipping a Cat’s Claws (Toenails)

  1. Out of the 8 cats we have owned, only 1 of them was cooperative, letting me hold him as shown in the video. The other 7 required a 2 man operation – my husband holding them on his lap and me doing the clipping. They didn’t fuss too much with both of us. Our Ragdoll, Honeybear, was 2nd in line to being the most cooperative.

  2. Of all my cats, only my Ragdoll, Bandit lets me do his nails without a problem. My Cookie hisses and growls even though I have been clipping her claws since she was 3 months. It takes a Herculean effort by 2 people to get the job done.

  3. Thank you very much for the demonstration and information, Jenny! We’ve been very fortunate that Miss Pink Sugarbelle is very patient and understanding when her Daddy trims her claws. Since I pull litterbox duty he has claw trimming duty. 🙂

    Big hugs!

  4. Thanks for the video Jenny! Have been clipping their nails since they first came and so they don’t really mind. I always have used bribery and it works well so far. Get out the treats and have them sitting right there. With each nail cut, I give them high praises and tell them they are getting a special treat, so each one gets in line to have it done because they only get the treat when their nails are finished.
