Happy American Thanksgiving 2016!
I recently switched the language choice on my iPhone to Spanish. As many of you know, I have a Masters in Spanish. And well, I don’t use it as much as I used to. So I try to watch the news in Spanish and also do things like convert my phone to Spanish to keep my mind active with it. The other day, I was scheduling an appointment in my calendar and noticed that “Thanksgiving” was translated to “Acción de Gracias” (action of thanks). This caught me by surprise because in high school, we always translated “Thanksgiving” to “Día de Gracias” (day of thanks).
I prefer “Acción de Gracias”, though because it elicits “gratitude” in my opinion.
So today, I wanted to share my “Acción de Gracias” (gratitude) of you all. The photo above was taken in October of this year. My cousin, Vincent, came over to take our family Christmas photo and in between one of the takes, he snapped this photo of me with Caymus (I had no idea he had taken it until he sent me the photo a few weeks later). To me, it captures the essence of gratitude I have for cats, especially Caymus. It represents my soul and what my soul needs when it pauses for a break. So I am sharing it with you because you – all of you – and your love of your cats has helped me do what I love each and every day. If you guys didn’t love your cats and care about your cats like you do, then we would not have the community of cat lovers we have. I am so grateful for each and every one of you – for those of you who comment on every post (Patti and Teresa!), for those of you who read posts and email me directly, for those of you who e-mail me asking questions, for suggestions and more, for those of you who respond to our posts on social media or our YouTube videos and for those of you who do not make contact but are hanging out with us too. I am super grateful for you all – because without you, Floppycats wouldn’t be what it is.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families.
