Happy 12th Birthday, Murphy!

Seal Mitted Ragdoll Cat, Murphy, Turns 12 Years Old!

My Si Beau.  I do not know how to spell that – but if you watch our videos, you have heard me call my parents’ seal mitted with a blaze Ragdoll cat, Murphy, “Si Beau!”.  My mom called me yesterday and said, “Murphy’s birthday is tomorrow.”  And I said, “Yes, I know Si-si Beau-beau is 12!”  No one else in my family calls him that. Just me, but it is hard for me to call him Murphy.

Murphy and Caymus were brought into our lives when I was still living at home with my parents (because my mom wouldn’t let me take Rags out of her home), so I have a different relationship with them than them being just my parents’ cats.  I really got to know them for their first two years of life and thereafter.

Murphy is a half brother to Caymus – they have the same father – that’s why Murphy was born five days after Caymus.

Murphy is a blaze cat.  My family has a hypothesis about cats with blazes – they are outgoing, dominant cats, etc. I really do not like generalizations after having this site – because there are so many people that rely on that when adopting a cat.  But our history with blaze cats has been that – very outgoing, confident and interested.

If you follow us on Facebook, then you know my sister, Amy, recently introduced her two cats, Ash and Addie, to my parents cats, Caymus and Murphy.  In discussing the strategy of how she should go about it, I reminded her that Murphy would be more accepting and interested in his new friends than Caymus.  When I introduced Caymus and Murphy to Charlie and Trigg, I thought Caymus would be the easy one – boy, was I wrong!  Murphy was the one that was more accepting immediately – and the same was true with Ash and Addie.  Beau was a very good host.

Beau is such a good kitty with my nephews and niece.  He was not raised with small children, but you wouldn’t guess he wasn’t.  He hangs around, lets them pick him up and likes to get into what they’re doing.

Murphy is definitely attached to my mom – they have a soulmate bond.

Watching my dad with Murphy when my dad is sitting in a chair and Murphy wants pets is one of the most heart-warming things to see.  I have asked my dad’s permission to video tape it, but he says that he’d rather I not.

Si Beau is a beautiful kitty – he ALWAYS greets me when I come over and I genuinely feel he is always excited to see me.  And, of course, I am always excited to see him.
