Grayson – Ragdoll of the Week
Submitted Fri, Oct 27, 2017
After his brother Marley was featured as Ragdoll of the Week in July, Grayson decided it was about time for his turn! Here is is story.
When my husband and I decided to get our first pet together, we quickly agreed that we would be very lucky to include a Ragdoll in our family. The first time we went to see kittens, one adorable blue point quickly ran around us and tried to climb everywhere. Even with very little face time, we knew he was the one for us!
The litter of kittens were born in April and therefore all had spring themed names; our future kitten was named Robin. While there is nothing wrong with the name Robin, we wanted to wait to get to know him before deciding for good. A few days after welcoming him home, my husband said “I have a great name for Robin! In ‘Batman and Robin’, Batman’s real name is Bruce Wayne. Robin’s is Dick Grayson”. It was absolutely perfect for him!
Grayson is now over 3 years old and loves to be in the centre of all the action. He runs to the door when you come home and sleeps on our bed at night. Ever since he was a kitten, he will snuggle in bed with me and lick my ear lobe! I researched this early on and apparently it had something to do with leaving their mother early but we didn’t bring him home until he was 11 weeks. He helps me with the laundry and when I do puzzles. He loves to lay in uncomfortable places and insists on having some fresh air, no matter the temperature outside.
Most of the time when I tell people we have Ragdoll cats, they aren’t aware of the breed and it’s a great opportunity to explain how special and unique they are.
Grayson doesn’t like when our suitcases come out as he knows we will be away for a few days, and will even try to sneak in without us seeing him! Grayson likes to play what we call ‘stair game’, where we throw a ball up the stairs and he runs to go get it and knock it down to us to start all over again. He also really likes small knit mice or other stuffed animals. He actually took a small bear I had from a baby and decided it was his now. He loves to lay on afghan blankets so we had a small one made just for him. Sometimes he carries it around in his mouth to lay down elsewhere.
He is especially sweet when it comes to his brother Marley. Grayson was our only pet for 3 years and has been so patient and careful while Marley adjusted over the last several months. They are never too far from each other, and if Grayson can’t find Marley he will start to meow and search.
Halloween is coming up this week and Grayson is really excited! He loves when all the decorations come out and will even wait at the door with me to hand out candy.

Hi, I’m Jenny Dean, creator of Floppycats! Ever since my Aunt got the first Ragdoll cat in our family, I have loved the breed. Inspired by my childhood Ragdoll cat, Rags, I created Floppycats to connect, share and inspire other Ragdoll cat lovers around the world,
My raggie also played “the stair game” when he was little, didn’t know any to hers . It was his way of playing fetch with himself. Now he’s moved it into the kitchen, where his little toy apparently moves in a way he likes. So frequently I’ll hear this ball bouncing around in the kitchen in the evening from time to time.
Grayson is SOOOO gorgeous! Love all your beautiful photos too, especially the one of him watching the snow (well, I had to erase this line several times because I LOVE ALL of them and couldn’t choose, hehehe!). Thanks so much for sharing Grayson with us. He is a very special boy indeed and wish you all a very happy and healthy life together.♥♥♥
