Cora – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month

Story submitted Sep 28, 2020, 10:30 AM At the beginning of the year, I began looking into getting a kitten. My family and I have two dogs, but my heart was missing the love of a cat. I brought my desire to my husband who then said he would only want a Ragdoll cat. I had never heard of a Ragdoll before, so I did a quick search on YouTube. I was shocked! How could a cat be “dog-like” and want to be held in your arms? You mean there is a cat that WANTS to be around you?? Immediately, I was hooked! After my months-long search for a kitten, I actually found our precious Cora on Hoobly. She didn’t come from a breeder, but her parents are papered Ragdolls. Her dad is a lilac lynx mitted, and her mom is a seal bicolor. She has a tiny little white dot on her forehead, which makes her even more gorgeous! I sent my husband on a long car ride to get her and anxiously awaited her arrival. She is now almost 4 months old, and we are all smitten! Since she came into our home, she has brought so much love and happiness to us. Cora also loves my 2-year-old, Eden, and 8-month-old, Jasper. She is so patient with my kids and seems to know to be gentle with them. Even though Jasper has grabbed her many times, she lovingly (but firmly) let’s him know not to do that anymore, and she still comes to play with him often. Dahlia mostly tries to ignore Cora, but I will often see them cuddled up together while Cora grooms her. Cora especially loves to share Dahlia’s huge dog bed with her. Cora - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month seal lynx mitted Ragdoll IMG_3520 Cora starts her day early by relentlessly licking me under my neck and tickling me with her sandpaper tongue. After I get up and feed her, she hangs out with me while I read my Bible.

Once Jude gets up, it’s play time all morning. He chases her and then she chases him back. Once the other kids wake up, she just enjoys being near them. She loves her wand toys and whatever small toy the kids leave on the ground. She also loves flopping into our arms and being carried around like a baby. Cora - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month seal lynx mitted Ragdoll IMG_3320 Cora has been found in the high chair, shopping cart, baby crib and many baskets. She has been swaddled and dressed up and loves it! Somehow, she is able to nap amidst all of the noise three young children generate. Cora - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month seal lynx mitted Ragdoll IMG_4285 Her favorite napping spot is on the couch or in Jude’s arms. If we’re at the kitchen table, she’s asleep on the chair or on the bay windowsill. If the kids are in the bath, she’s right there batting at the water. She follows us from room to room, just like a typical Ragdoll. Cora - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month seal lynx mitted Ragdoll IMG_3631 She loves being near us and hates when we leave or close any doors. Cora - Ragdoll Kitten of the Month seal lynx mitted Ragdoll IMG_3633 I noticed when we got her that Cora doesn’t purr a lot. I was a little worried that she wasn’t purring when I pet her or held her. I read that some cats don’t purr because they didn’t learn that from their mothers. I have now found that at night, when the kids are asleep, she’s a purr monster! I get unlimited time to cuddle with her, and that’s when she really gets to purring! She is such a love bug!
