I’ve always been an animal lover but considered myself more of a dog person than a cat person. (I know, *gasp*). When my daughter was sixteen, she wanted a kitten more than anything and although we struggle with pet allergies, we finally relented and let her bring home a mangy little thing (barn kitten perhaps?).
My fiancée and I found our first Ragdoll, Henri on Craigslist. Back then they just called him “Ragdoll”. He had been living outside, when a family let him into their garage to feed him and give him shelter.
It has taken me a while to be able to sit down and write the story of my beloved Ragdoll, since I’m still unable to come to grips with his terrible death on September 21, 2018. He was exactly 18 months old and was born on March 20, 2017.
Three years ago, I received a list of cats in danger at a New Orleans animal shelter. The rescuer who sent me the list wanted me to look at a stunning cream Maine Coon, but I saw the Flame Bi-Color Ragdoll and his one-eyed Seal Mitted Ragdoll brother.
Emma is my very first ragdoll. I had been wanting one for 15 years and finally decided that it was now or never, as I’m not getting any younger. She is now almost 3 years old.
I had been looking into getting a Ragdoll for a few years. After reading many books and watching several YouTube videos about the breeds description, I found a breeder that was not too far from me…
These littermates brothers were the first Ragdolls to grace my home. I’ve grown up with all sorts of cats – I “acquired” my first cat when I was just shy of 5 years old.
Fluff and I did not start out on the best of terms. I was grieving the loss of my beloved Jack Russell and Fluff desperately missed the only home he had ever known.
First of all hello to all the readers from Floppycats. My name is Álvaro and I am from Colombia, but I live in Finland working and studying here. I have always liked cats even if I have always had dogs when I lived with my parents.
