Cat Blogger: Friends FurEver
Floppycats Readers: I am starting a new series where I am interviewing cat bloggers – so you can learn about other great cat sites out there.
Friends FurEver was started in July of 2008. The name came from the Cat Show vendor business our Mom had with our Auntie El. When we decided to blog, we thought that was the purrfect name for us. Mom no longer does cat shows but we have kept the name of our blog the same. We’re known around the blogosphere as The Florida Furkids. Originally the blog was written by our Angels Sniffie, Tamir, Cubby and Clifford as well as Ellie and Allie.
Raz joined our family three years ago. Raz and Allie are Cat Scouts. Raz was 2014’s Cat Scout of the Year. Scouts Raz and Allie participate in lots of fun adventures at Scouts and earn Merit Badges and do Service Projects. Raz is a member of the Tabby Cat Club too.
How did you get interested in cats? How old were you when you had your first kitty?
I’ve had cats all my life. There are photos of me as a baby with cats. My Mom always had kitties.
What made you want to start a cat blog?
I enjoyed reading the blogs of others and decided it would be fun to blog too. We were fans of Daisy the Curly Cat and Skeezix’s Scratching post. The Florida Furkids have been blogging since July 5, 2008 and have never missed a day! Who knew we had so much to say?
What will a reader find if s/he visits your site?
We always have fun photos of us and our friends. We pawticipate in all of the Cat Blogosphere events as well as a lot of Blogville events. If there is a holiday, you can bet we’re celebrating it in some way. We love holidays! We also take part in a lot of more serious events such as LiveStrong and sharing stories of kitties in need. We will often do reviews of products that we like and feel are appropriate for our readers.
What is your favorite part of your blog and why?
Mom likes the photos….we’re not so crazy about the flashy box. We also enjoy showing fun things about our area. Most of all, we love the comments our readers leave. Some of the comments are so clever!
What are some of your goals with your cat blog? Any big future plans?
No big plans…we’re just happy to continue on the way we’ve been going. We hope our readers enjoy our posts and plan on blogging for a long time. We do wish we had more time to visit our blogging pals.
Tell us about your cats, their personalities.
Ellie and Allie are Lilac Point Birman sisters. They are 12 years old and love each other. Allie is always ready for love and pets, Ellie wants attention on HER schedule. Ellie is also a Daddy’s girl.
Raz is the youngster. He’s a brown tabby and is full of fun! He very often will put on his crazypants and run up and down the hall, sometimes jumping 3/4 of the way to the ceiling, howling and meowing.
Are you a one wo/man show?
Yes, one woman show.
What has been the most rewarding thing about having a cat blog?
One of the nicest things about blogging is having new friends. Mom and our Flat Selves have met a lot of bloggers and they are all super people. It’s always nice to see how the cat bloggers pull together to help out wherever there is a need. Auctions, fund raisers and transports are only a few of the examples of this. Of course the downside of having these friends is when a kitty or woofie pal goes to the Bridge. Over the last couple of years both Raz and Allie have met their special kitty. Raz and Madi from Madi and Mom and Allie and Mauricio from The Cat On My Head have long standing relationships.
