Our “Ask US Anything” is a series of posts on the site where I share the questions/concerns/ideas that readers have sent in and then the responses from our readers about those questions/concerns/ideas.
What Do With a Ragdoll Cat When You Go on Vacation?
Bara wrote asking, “Please can you post the following on the FB page, I am looking for advice – thanks.
Hi, my rag doll is 18 months old and I will be taking the kids on holiday for two months over the summer. We will be staying the entire time at my mums house (apart from one week when we will be away). I would like your advice in choosing what to do with him.
Choice 1: He stay at home – this is his home and he will be in a familiar environment. My husband will be around for most of that two months and my husbands work hours are reasonable, so our cat will have company from 6pm every evening and all weekend. During the one week that my husband joins us on holiday my neighbour will come in and do all that is necessary (my neighbour has done this before) eg change litter, feed, play etc. Myself and the kids will not be there for two months.
Choice 2: He comes with me to my mums house – He has done this once before when he was much younger. My mum has the space for him but the house is very hectic. There are always lots of visitors and cousins around. However he will be with me and the kids for two months.
Please can you give me your views on which one would be the best option for him.
Thanks so much,”
I posted it on Facebook to see what other Ragdoll cat owners had to say:

Sometimes readers don’t write in, but rather just post on the community section of our Facebook page. This is fine, of course, but I sometimes don’t get to these for days – so be sure to always email me – as I check that daily -if you have something pertinent.
