Yasou was picked up as a stray in Las Cruces, NM in July 2012 and lived at the shelter. After a week, first shots, and tests to be sure he was negative for other infectious disease, he was moved to a local pet store in Las Cruces where he lived day after day in a very small cage, and in a back room at night, as he waited to be adopted. Because I had a wonderful Ragdoll that looked identical to Yasou years ago, I could not leave him at the shelter or in the cage at the Pet Store. The shelter wanted him out of that environment, too, and they waived his adoption fee if I would take him home. He is very sweet, likes to "talk" to his humans, is loving, and doesn't seem to mind dogs much. My cats, however, are not happy that Yasou has come to our home. Yasou currently has his own room where he is not bothered or bullied by my current cats. I'm sure he is lonely, as he shows interest in the other pets, but I am not going to give my cats the chance to start any feline rumbles with Yasou.
Because Yasou reminded me of a kitty I loved so very much, I could not leave him as a ward of the shelter. I knew I could find him a loving home and that is what I'm working to do. He is an older cat, but very cooperative and affectionate. He is utd on shots and has a microchip in my name.
