Meowfia Cat Caves: Felted Wool Cat Beds with Style

While it seems that a wool cat cave would only be conducive to winter weather, Meowfia says they are great for summer too – especially for those cat owners who love to turn their AC to the max.  Cats have a higher body temperature than ours – and depending on their indoor living situation, they can be cold in the summer as well as in the winter.

Meowfia’s cat caves have an elegant cocoon shape with a 7″ wide opening, which is perfect for a kitty looking for a good sleeping hideout.  They also have fun modern designs and colors for you to choose from (see options below).  If you have followed us and seen some of the cat caves we have reviewed, then you know cat caves are great for playing and for napping!  Meowfia cat caves are suitable for 1 large cat, 2 small cats, clowder of kittens and even a small dog

You can buy these beautiful cat caves on Etsy or on Amazon:

Meowfia’s felted cat caves are made by wet felting their superior quality sheep wool from New Zealand.  “Wet felting” makes wool into a dense fabric and then it is hand-molded into a cave.  Each cave is hand-pressed to make it super dense and tight and strong – for those kitty claws!

Did you know?  Felted wool has natural self-cleaning characteristics that repel odor, dirt and stains?

Every time I have given my cats a felted wool cat cave, bed or toy – they smell it for a good long while and then want to rub it, bunny kick it or bite it.  I am not sure what it is about felted wool, but most cats adore it.  My cats don’t always keep it in the cave shape either – sometimes it becomes a flat bed for them to lay on as well.

  1. Oh Jenny, those are so beautiful! I wonder how large is large. My big boy Doppelgänger is gigantic (both big framed and fat, alas we have been unable to bring his weight down) and he’s the one who likes a cuddly hide-away.

    1. The dimensions of the caves are on Amazon and Etsy – so you can just click on through – but I listed them here too:
It’s a Handmade product and dimensions slightly vary:
      ~19 inches (48 cm) diameter
      ~12 inches (30 cm) height
      ~ 8 inches (20 cm) entrance

  2. Wonderful post, Jenny! Lurve the company name…Meowfia! lol 🙂 Wow! Those are some beautiful looking wool cat cave beds. Yes, we have a cat cave bed and Miss PSB has been in it a total of two times since we got it (and one of those times was checking it out when I unboxed it). We’ve had it for about a year and a half now. I’ve placed it in different areas around the apartment and even put catnip on it and in it and she still refuses to use it. Sigh…. So, I won’t be investing in another one, unfortunately. She’s just not a cat cave bed kinda gal. Darnit!

Big hugs & lots of love!

      1. No, not yet. All though her Auntie Teresa sent her a blue woolly mousie last year that she went crazy over until it was so pulled apart we couldn’t recognize it any more. I should get her some of those awesome felted toys from that shop on Etsy. I have it on my Etsy Wish List and have the shop favorited. When I get some of those I’ll let you know how she reacted to them. 🙂 <3

  3. Yes, agree with everyone that these are gorgeous! Unfortunately, we have the same kinda thing here with no one using ours that we purchased a while back. Miss Olivia Grace is the only one who ever gets in it and it is not often. They all sleep on my bed with me during the night . Now, in the winter time during the day, Illaria is by my side where ever I may be and mostly rests on her new cardboard scratcher or Peach Pet Provisions lounge, Gracie reclines on the Pet Fusion scratcher and Miss Mariposa is usually high up on the top of the Royal Cat Boutique cat house bed watching the birdies. So, there really isn’t a need for one of these pretty wool cat caves presently. But, you know how things change, and am always open to getting them something new if the tides turn and they show a new interest in the one we already have. Like Patti said, we have moved it around all over the place with no interest. ♥♥♥
