Sleepypod Air In Orange Dream

If you read our Sleepypod Air product review in April, then you have certainly come to appreciate it as a carrier.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Sleepypod, they are a pet product company located in Los Angeles.  Their designs are not only modern, but many times very innovative.  The Sleepypod Air is a revolutionary carrier that is ideal for airline travel.  It’s revolutionary because the carrier can adapt to the various under-seat storage requirements that different airlines have.

So whether you jet set with your pet often or if you simply take she or he to the vet twice a year, this carrier will last you a lifetime!

Check out this great Sleepypod Air video:

I loved that the sleepypod looked like it would work for all airline travel. We have to visit my husband’s parents in Florida and would love to win this item!

I would like to be entered in the contest please! I love how the sleepy pod air folds up for take off and then opens wider during flight. I fly Teddy to Texas a lot to visit my family so I know this would be put to very good use! Hopefully the darker screening will prevent him from getting scared also on the plane or in the car. its a great carrier!!!

Good luckkkkk to you and Teddy, no offense to others, but I hope Teddy wins since I am a fan of the bed surfer! In all honesty though, good luck to everyone that enters, do not take a good thing for granted!

Congrats on your first giveaway contest, I think this definitely shows that floppycats is advancing amongst a wider audience! Does that YouTube clip showing how the Sleepypod air can be used have audio/sound? If it does then I think my laptop is having issues when YouTube clips are embedded. Whoever wins the giveaway contest will be lucky for sure because of all the benefits of owning a Sleepypod Air. One major benefit is that not only is it specifically designed for air travel, therefore fits airline regulations for carry-on pets, but it can also be used as a regular pet carrier for trips to anywhere else, like the vet! It has has a nifty pocket space slice on the back so it can be slid onto the handles of luggage bags, such as the ones with wheels. Pets seem to like it and it is big enough for Ragdoll owners, which is a plus! I think the absorbent pads are a nifty addition as well as the shoulder strap and regular carrying handle at the top. Overall, I think the Sleepypod Air is the best carrier for cat and small dog owners out there because of its multiple uses that are all beneficial to both the human and animal. I have not found a single thing I dislike about the Sleepypod Air and although my word is not much, since most users on floppycats does not know me, but I conduct a tremendous amount of research into finding the best of things and any item that I end up taking an interest in and the Sleepypod Air is definitely one of them! Good luck to all who enter! And thanks to Sleepypod for their generosity!

Melody, I do not think it has sound – I know it seems weird because the guy is talking, so you’d think it would have sound, but I don’t believe that it does!

Oh okay haha, thanks for the response – at least now I know it is not just me! It is a great video for the carrier though since it shows all the accessories and uses and etc. It is great that Sleepypod is allowing the winner to choose the color they want, I think all the colors look nice though. Pretty difficult to choose just one! I’d probably get the dark chocolate one as the first carrier and a different color for the second since I decided on having two Ragdolls in the future!

I was going to choose black or dark chocolate for the product testing one, and then thought Charlie would look best in the Orange Dream!

Reply

9 Melody May 4, 2010

Oh wow that was nice of them to let you choose which color you preferred for testing. I think the brighter colors suit the darker toned Ragdolls, but either works. I think I would either get the dark chocolate, strawberry red, or glacier silver. Another reason why I like this carrier is because you can secure it with the seat belt and its own little straps that wrap around the seat belt.

What I saw that caught my eye was the slip over part so that it could be toted and not worry about it falling off of the luggage carrier. I have carriers with hard bottoms but none that have that slip over zipper area. That’s pretty neat.

Ooh! Please consider this my entry in the give-away.

My Ragdoll would absolutely love this carrier- I think that what I love most about it is the mesh top- my cat loves to be able to observe around him but feel like he’s got a “safe zone” when we’re traveling in the car or at the vet’s office, so this would work quite nicely.

The Sleepypod looks better then my Sturdi. Would love to win one!

Annalisa, that makes me wonder if Sleepypod will come up with carriers for cat shows – I bet whatever they would come up with will be really impressive and able to do ten things in one or something!

I think my cat would absolutely love this carrier because it is secure and safe, yet not as hard and scary as our regular cat carrier. I love it because i can carry it on my shoulder rather than just holding the carrier in my hands, and because it doesn’t immediately scream “I have a cat in here!”. Plus, the funky color choices make it nice and modern :)

Hi! I am a proud navy wife and proud mom of a one year old girl, and 3 rescued kitties. My husband is currently deployed to the middle east, and I now have to move our family from RI to San Diego CA. I will be flying with all my babies and am totally stressed about it! I have a wonderful special kitty that is blind, and suffers from luxating patellas in both of his rear legs. Brother Cat, is a larger cat who gets scared easily when i am not around. I would love to be able to carry him on the plane with me. The Sleppypod Air would allow him the extra space needed to fly comfortably with me. Thanks!

I just subscribed to your newsletter! (This is Alissa from Ragdoll Lovers!)

That has got to be one of the most innovative carriers I’ve ever seen. If I was ever to fly with my Ragdoll, I would purchase one in a heartbeat. They look very comfortable for cats, and it’s definitely a plus that the inside cushion is removable for washing (especially for frequent travelers or heavy shedders!) I also especially like that it can be strapped safely in a car.

I will definitely be sharing this with my friends, and with another cat feed I subscribe to.

You’re the first person to mention the removable cushion for washing! Yes! Total plus!!

i would love this carrier. i am getting a new kitty and have to fly to pick him up. im super nervous but this carrier would sure make the trip easier and me less stressed about it!

Steph, are you getting a Ragdoll? From where?

Reply

23 Diana May 16, 2010

I like the way the carrier will securely attack to my rolled luggage. My ragdoll weighs 15 Pounds now and is still growing! He would get very heavy traipsing through an airport. I don’t think he would enjoy it in the car. He would rather have a booster seat. LOL I found your website through my breeder, Palace Cats. Thank you for all the product reviews.

Finally someone developed a functional yet comfortable cat carrier. I do not have one, but I will be traveling possibly in September to rescue a Ragdoll, and something like that wouldbe absolutely perfect!

26 Danielle May 18, 2010

This carrier is awesome. Thank you for the review! I love the fact that it has straps that you can buckle into a car’s seatbelt with. I always feel like I can’t secure a hard carrier well enough in the car. My little tabby, Maya, would love this!

I am so impressed with the Sleepypod Air! I have been looking for a carrier for when I bring my cat to the vet because I do not have a car and I have to walk two blocks to get to the bus stop. I have a wish list to make my travel more comfortable for me and my cat and Sleepypod Air ticks all the boxes. In addition, I have also been thinking that when I go to visit to my home country, I am worried about how to bring my cat with me. Well, with Sleepypod Air, I can take my cat with me under the seat instead of sending her to the cargo compartment. Finally someone took the time to consider what a pet owner needs! It is obvious that the designer has learned from experience!!! And that makes for an excellent product!!!!!

The sleepypod air looks great. Checking the link to the comparison it even seems
like a good choice for me since I usually fly JetBlue and the Mini doesn’t fit
that airlines requirements but the air does. The fact that the reviewer said
that it is comfortable to carry is a big plus.

I also adore the picture of ‘Sleepypod Air and Charlie’s Paw’ on the review page.

Thanks for the videos and review.

WOW! I want a SleepyPod carrier!! Since we fly all over the US showing our PalaceCats Ragdolls we are always looking for comfortable (and stylish) carriers! This one looks to have both style AND comfort! Plus looks durable enough to withstand several show seasons! Max flew many many times in 2009/2010 to achieve his Regional Win and he would have LOVED this carrier :) I think he would look cool in the silver (since he is a blue bicolor Ragdoll) but Palacecats Fire N Ice (who also racked up some frequent flyer miles acheiving his RW) would look great in the orange (he is a cream lynx mitted Ragdoll) Thanks so much for the review!

Wow! They look so well-constructed, very well thought out. I’d say my favorite feature is the handle pass-through, so they can ride smoothly on luggage and not be jostled around while you walk miles in the airports.

I love the sleepy pod air’s colors and that it folds up. We have trouble storing our bulky carrier. I also assume it is light and I have a very fat cat, so it would be great to have a light carrier.

Hope I’m not too late!

I’m really intrigued by this company’s products; I’ve been admiring the original Sleepypod carrier for some time, but this one takes the cake! I love that I can take it both on a plane and in a car, and that it straps in easily for safety (my kitty and I travel by car very frequently, as I travel for work). It is sleek, and looks like it would make my kitty feel comfy and not too exposed while also allowing him to see me and know things are alright.

And the fact that one of your bigger kitties fits in it with ease gives me hope that my kitty (who is a big fellow, though slim) would have no problems!

Jackie, I agree with you that the Sleepypod Air takes the cake! No, not too late! Tomorrow is the last day to enter!

I’d love to be entered too.
What I like about it is it’s not hard and slippery during tilts or turns in the car. It looks comfortable and something Sunny could grab onto during turns or tilts. He likes his plastic one, just think how much he’ll like a plush one.

Thanks

I’d love one of these for my cats, though I’m concerned that my giant 15 pound orange tabby may not fit, and I would really rather fly with him in the cabin! Your demonstration with caymus gives me hope.

Reply

Yes, Caymus is 17 lbs. and very mellow, so he was a big fan!

I am intrigued by the Sleepypod Air! I think my little Steve McQueen would love to travel home in it! We fly very frequently – I am a graduate student in Alabama and we fly home to Buffalo as much as we can! He’s a good flier but we’d love a new pouch for him!
