Since childhood I’ve studied art and loved cats. Both cats and art are very basic essential parts of my life and always will be. Cats, to my way of thinking, are grace and beauty in motion.

How did you get interested in cats?  How old were you when you had your first kitty?

As I child, I just was attracted to cats. My grandmother was a cat lover, but my dad wasn’t and didn’t allow me to keep kittens.   When I became an adult, I was finally free to acquire cats and my cats always lived with me through out their entire life span. Sorrow over the death of a well loved cat was only soothed by time and then acquiring a new cat or kitten.

Last January I lost an exceptionally wonderful 18 year old  blue cream Maine Coon type feline companion. It was heartbreaking. My daughter Jennifer has 2 ragdoll cats, and knowing how companionable they are, she urged me to get a Ragdoll kitten.  I also have a 2 1/2 year old dilute calico persian cat that would need to accept the new addition to the family. By the end of March, I was eager to find the new kitten with a mellow personality. We found a handsome flame point Ragdoll kitten that was available.  Raggs is  a mellow  and gentle boy and lives in harmony with his Persian sister Clarice. We are fortunate to be enjoying our retirement years with two very wonderful cats!

Please describe your creative process.  How did you discover Etsy?  Did you consider other ways to sell your products?

I became aware of the ETSY website  through a newspaper article.  I liked that it was a website especially for handmade items obtained directly from artists and crafts people. My etsy store is  called . cdingo.etsy.com.  I also sell on ebay and at some local shows.

Do you sell your products in a local store in your area?

Selling on the web has become a part time retirement job for me. I like that I can close the stores and go on vacation or work daily at adding to store inventories.

Do your customers ever give you new ideas for products?

cdingo Original drawings, paintings, prints, wooden toysIdeas come from customers who want specific types of cat drawings, and from the popularity of certain cat breeds.

Have you thought of featuring a Ragdoll cat is some way?  (Had to ask.)

Examples of my  pastel drawings of ragdoll cats are included with this article. I make drawings, paintings, and limited edition art cards that range in price from $6.50 to $75+.

Are you a one wo/man show?

I’m solo on Etsy & work with my husband on selling in other places . Our eBay store includes cat art, cat collectibles, and other collectibles that my husband specializes in.

Do you have a blog?

I don’t have a blog.

Do you do custom ordering?  Can someone return it if they don’t care for it?

cdingo Original drawings, paintings, prints, wooden toysCustom orders are done as follows:  Art is created from a photo or photos at an agreed upon price. I send scans via email as the work is in progress, and ask for suggestions in order to make the artwork as satisfying as possible. I need  6 weeks time to allow for careful work.  At completion & upon payment, the artwork is sent insured priority mail. Since I send scans as the art progresses, there is no return after the final product is sent.

Can you share a story with us behind any of your products that you especially enjoyed working on?  Maybe because of the story behind the kitty?

My fondest memories are  of  cat owners who  shared pictures and told me stories about the cats they love. You just meet the nicest people!
