Hi :)

How often do you give your Raggies/cats a treat? Only during the training process or randomly as well?

Strangely enough, neither of my cats will take a treat.  I even ordered the dried turkey treats Jenny recommended  – with no success.  Everything I've tried they just sniff and act like they are trying to bury them.  I'd love to find some they like.

That's so weird! Tyco is not really interested in treats either. Unless it's a kibble from his regular food, he doesn't want it. I don't understand why. And it makes motivating him to do anything really difficult. I've tried all kinds of treats but nothing is "exciting" enough for him I guess.

has anyone tried human treats, our boy Dante has a list we like to call "Shit my Cat Eats", on this list so far (hopefully I can remember them all):

Jam – any sort but strawberry is his favourite, blueberry is a close second

chocolate – only the smallest tiny amount on the end of my pinky finger

wine – very tiny drops and only red and only the soft fruity variety

cheese

cake – any he looooooooooves the cake

scotch and coke – again in very very small drops on the end of my finger and only good scotch, the little bugger knows when youre skimping on the value on trying to give him Johnny Walker Red

ham

pork

fresh roast chicken – he takes up position on a chair to wait for this to get to the table for the best access to his human food

I think thats about everything (if there's anything I've forgotten no doubt he will remind later while I'm trying to eat my dinner) sf cool Ragdoll Cat Forum

I also know that chocolate and most of the rest of that list is toxic to animals hence the smallest of small quanities and it's only ever occassionally, in addition to this I'm sure that his running into the doors and walls around the place has damaged more brain cells than his consumption of fine wine and cheese sf laugh Ragdoll Cat Forum

LOL @ Dante!

Sookie will eat cat treats if she wants to, whereas Darcy is a food fiend. When we first got him I made the mistake of giving him a bit of ham, he immediately learnt that it's home was the fridge and would run from the other side of the house if he heard the fridge door being opened, and would then try to climb in. I've now managed to wean him off and he knows he's not allowed to beg for it, but here are a few of Darcy's other favourites (usually discovered by jumping onto the sofa and sticking his paw into my bowl when I'm not looking rather than me offering them!):

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (any flavour)

Melon

Tomato Soup

Pasta Alfredo

Corned beef

Chicken

Omelette (yes really!)

Whatever is in Sookie's bowl…. even if his is full and has the same thing in it

Crumpets

Melted cheese

Gravy
